Nothing wrong with batch. If he got further than a hello world prgram he might not be a muggle anymore.

This happened when I first met him. I have taught him Python and HTML

Yeah. I used to make text adventure games with it when I was bored.

Tell him it's how to code unless he literally gives the machine instructions in form of zeroes and ones.

@filthyranter how to program is right. Programming is the act of writing code which has to compile to machinecode.
Scripting is the act of writing code which will be interpreted at runtime.

Although scripting nowadays isnt used much anymore so calling that programming is also right in my eyes.

Dont knock him, I started as a 11 year old kid writing those dumb batch "viruses" that you see on youtube.

That evolved into automating my own pc with scripts which evolved into writing scripts for my incompetent parents and the shared pc (this was useful for clearing files/cache/resetting application settings etc etc).

This evolved into java programming which evolved into android development where I am now. It all starfs somewhere.
