The docs would tell, iirc, up to a limit of 1024 machines recursively, thzt is at least the theory, but no real world scenario would make use of such thing, considered the overhead on your host and each vm that acts as a host for the images within...

And your hardware must support it as well, not all hypervisors can do that.
