NoMad136661yI'd like recommendations on how to replace it with something else. I'm a stress-smoker, but more than anything, I need that "getting out of the office" feeling, but actually having something to do rather than just standing around. I could go on a walk, but then there's a chance I might never come back!
Also, nicotine is nice. It calms me down. Or is it the actual breathing it enforces? Who knows... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't like the smell, and I don't like the taste, and I don't really need to smoke to get nicotine. (Patches, gums, etc are also a thing) -
@aviophile I wasn't inhaling second hand smoke. They used to give me a cigarette too.

@NoMad Well, I can't really say how you should stop smoking. For me, I turned 30 and I gave up smoking because I fear death will come quicker.

NoMad136661y@Sid2006 I have never said fully quitting. I'd still use smoking as a mean of emotional numbness and dealing with very high anxiety situation. I'd just like to smoke less on a regular basis. 👀
Edit: by which I mean not making it a habit. Although I have ADHD so I can't actually form habits in the long run. Don't want to make them in the short run either. 🙄 -
NoMad136661y@electrineer too much caffeine is also bad, you know 😛 if I take caffeine with the same rate I get nicotine, I'd die in like a week, probably!
The same goes for sugar. (ice cream, for example)
People who don't smoke/drink often underestimate the power of smoke breaks that people take in the office.
To others it might seem like something colleagues do outside for 5-10 mins but it literally is not the case.
In 2018 at an office job I worked at, the HR, marketing head and a dev colleague all separately used to drag me out in the balcony at different times. They didn't wanna smoke with each other, just alone with me.
I knew everything about them starting from where they studied, their work history, their salaries, routines, their married lives, how they feel in and out of the office, what they are depressed about. More than anything I needed to know about them..
It didn't result in personal gains or anything but it wouldn't have happened if I was then a non smoker.
Remember that episode in Friends where Rachel had to forcefully take up smoking to socialize with her colleagues? It's completely true
