ChappIO46937yKeep being scared of it, but get comfortable doing things you're scared of. It's not gonna go away so you might as well embrace it.

Same situation as you ,I'm in university with a maths course(compulsory) in Computer Science .I hate maths too.Heres a few pointers
-maths is kind of a vital part to a computer science degree, its required no matter which varsity you go to
-treat it somewhat like programming. If you find it hard to understand your classes, theres tons of resources to help you,i found success ,in looking up the topic ,going through notes and tutorials understanding it,and then doing exercises (khan academy is great for anything you might not understand). This process is kind of similar to learning languages or frameworks.
-most lecturers have consultation times, another source of help is going to the lecturer and asking for help.
-Make friends in your maths classes, friends helped a quite a bit. -
I wish I could replace all this horrible math with something like History, Philosophy, Art or Anthropology.

@clovisIrex sorry I forgot to add "make sure to bring some booze"...I worked at liquor store from the time I was 16-18, nothing beats Calculus and Jaeger. That's the only pro-tip I have to offer. It made all of my classes more tolerable.
My school was chill af so I was able to sneak 5ths in my backpack, but a flask in the back pocket should do the trick.
Trust me even just a sip is enough to take some of the headache away. -
@clovisIrex lol fuck that math, science, and gym were the only things I was ever good at and I wasn't even very good at those 😅

Get good at logic, forget math with numbers. I stuck at math with numbers (like... A lot) but just finished getting my computer science diploma and already am hired in a good company. You can do it if I did it 🙂

I didn't do super great, but, at least in the US universities I have looked into, you only need a C. And you know what they call a CS grad who got Cs in math? Still a CS grad.

endor56667yHonestly, if you really hate math that much, it's probably because you've had bad teachers in the past.
Don't be scared of the math, everybody goes through it and they all come out the other side just fine.
Embrace it, enjoy it, and you will soon realize how useful it is. Nothing beats those "Oooh, so *that's* how it works!" moments.
Good luck! -
Me too. I managed though and so can you.
1. No one sucks at math. People don't practice math. If you practice math you will get better.
2. Study with friends.
3. Git Gud. -
@bmintz
Most serious dev jobs where I live require comp-sci/software eng. degree.
Information systems is for sysadmins, project managers and consultants, stuff which I don't want to do and not interested in.

I love technology. I love programming and developing software. I love self-learning new things.
But I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate Math. And suck at it too.
I want to study comp-sci at the university but I'm scared of the math.
Any tips?
