Must have been Chuck Norris sending you a virus...

My frc team had something similar happen when we drew current through a connection that had become loose. Not sure if that could have happened here?

@CodyTheFurry I've watched this video, then feeling educated selected right sata power splitter and to my surprise I've got the faulty type of plug. Shipping cost more than the plug so there is no point in sending it back :(

I bet if you clean up the melted plastic and wired it up you could get your data off of it. Not certain or anything but that looks like a surge. Hdd is probably fine.
