lxmcf199507y@Ranguna well if you do, just remember this cool dude you had reply to your comment on devRant ;-)
-
@Ranguna I agree with @PonySlaystation.
Fun thing is that I can't even search anything through Google on my laptop as I literally block as many Google related domains on host level so yeah it's damn possible! -
Ranguna877y@linuxxx Why ?
What did google ever did to you except tracking your every move to "better improve" your google experience ?
I mean, they are great people. -
@Ranguna Because rather not have my data collected by that company. It doesn't have to know everything about me and on top of that, it's integrated in PRISM. Not sure how you can justify that at all.
-
Ranguna877y@linuxxx What ?? No way, does Google really give all it's data to the NSA ?
I thought they were one of the good guys and NSA was just stealing data (as usual).
And then there's this argument that stirs everyone up: I have nothing to hide, if they want to see my messages, go ahead, I hope they don't mind a few hairy nudes from time to time. -
@Ranguna Not sure if sarcasm or not.
So can I put some cameras around your house, have a camera crew follow you full time, put your bank login details online and of course all your social media passwords and usernames? -
lxmcf199507y@GodHatesMe My google assistant seems to detect me too well so I used IFTTT to dismiss assistant when I tell It to fuck off, didn't realise it did it already
-
@linuxxx
Privacy anxious people are the computer scenes veganers ^^
By that I mean:
"I get your point. And I agree partly - but I won't go radically like you"
That's because I love googles products/experience. -
@BambuSource just wondering how it's 'radical' to use different services than the mainstream? I use Tutanota instead of gmail etc and damn I even like the fucking interface better.
I use Signal instead of WhatsApp etc and I actually like it better in general.
How is that radical? -
Ranguna877y@linuxxx My second comment was, the last one wasn't.
As long the crew doesn't get in my way. Sure, as long as you store them as securly as the server you(NSA) stole them from did, and I'm guessing the NSA doesn't put bank credentials up on public domains.
I've fought this big brother war and I know what it feels like when hearing someone "giving up" on this but the thing is: I've really thought about this and they aren't really mass controlling the poeple, they can't controle any of us, they can spy all they want but there's no way they'll change our behaviour, it's not like they can just threaten us by publishing all our data to the public, it's not in their interest.
I would change to other alternatives but the thing is, 90% of the people use whatsapp and facebook messager and that makes it kinda impossible for me to change unless if I somehow convince all my friends and non tech people to switch to a different messaging app.
If only there was an easier way to do that. -
@Ranguna I agree
If @linuxxx found himself comfortable with "light privacy" apps, that's cool, same with vegans ;D
But it's too difficult for most people to switch and I don't see much of a difference, if google wants to store my data, cool.
As long as they don't share my personal information to the company I am applying at and they aske me why I typed "how many holidays I can ask for" or "if my girlfriend is pregnant, can I have holidays without being fired" into google and stuff.
And they don't. -
-
Ranguna877y@BambuSource The only difference is that I was able to turn quite a few people vegetarian and a few vegan, but I was never able to make people use a different messaging app.
-
@BambuSource I've got quite some Signal contacts (20+) yeah. They didn't use it before they met me :P
-
Haha this post surely seems to have gone astray. Here we are taking about veggies now...😂😂
-
Gabe17297y@linuxxx, @BambuSource actually broccolis are very tasty if cooked in a pan, let's say in stew... Yummy
-
@Gabrielius Oh I honestly hate them cooked! I just hate the taste of it anyways 😅
-
@UnknownDev cool, which org? I have been part of GSoC and will be mentoring for GCI this year 😉
Anyone here who's working in Google??
