For the specs I got and considering shipping, the total was between $1200 and $1300.
It hurt, but my only other laptop is old and dying, so there was no way around getting a new one.
They also have monthly payment plans if you don't want to do a lump sum, I think it was $85/month

It's a Denver-based OEM that exclusively puts Linux on its machines.

@demiko because of that I bought the dell XPS 13 Dev edition. Else I would have gone with system76. Never buy anything that costs more than 20 euros outside Europe (due to tax law).

Had some issues with the dell though. They replaced my keyboard (quick service though). And fingerprint scanner will likely never work under Linux. Touchpad is still acting up will get them to replace that Friday.

Update:
So I've been lightly using the machine for a little while. The touchpad is decently responsive but I do have a bit of learning curve with the touchpad buttons because it's one flat piece but still two sided (like a seesaw). Luckily I was able to just go to the settings on the Ubuntu OS so that taps register as clicks.

The keys are backlit (white and blue) clear to read and feel nice, not much change there

I was concerned that I might not like the thick bezel but it hasn't bothered me

It's so thin and light! I legit have to check my backpack to ensure that I haven't forgotten it

The battery life is definitely not chromebook level but I think you could get through a half a day, maybe a full day with light use

The camera isn't great, but then again I don't think they usually are

It's NOT a fingerprint magnet, so tends to look pretty good

There's some custom themes here and there from system76 which look nice

The Ubuntu button is a nice touch

Most times the machine is quiet, but fan noise does occur (not obnoxious though, fine in quiet places)

While Ubuntu is decent , I find myself missing Linux Mint so at some point I'll prob dual boot or flat out replace

The bottom half of the laptop is quite sturdy and solid, however it's pretty easy to bend the top half.

The power button is on the left side of the laptop instead of facing up like the keyboard, which is new to me and just feels right somehow

The adapter is light, easy to plug in, and stays out of the way due to its 90° bend near the laptop's port

Bluetooth is great

Sound quality is good but not very loud (although it seems that's pretty usual)

All in all, I think I'll be happy with this machine :)
I'll update more as I continue working with it and if anyone has specific questions, just let me know. ✌
