Our lives are too awesome to rant about. Compare devving with other work. We live in a walhalla

Hazarth94841yI don't think there's anything deep like that going on. There's still rants happening, I mean all devs in the world didn't just give up in the last year or anything, that would be too big of a coincidence.
My best guess is that there's just more new people who treat devrant more like a typical social platform like twitter or something and use it like a person blog for shit that doesn't belong here, so the main page gets flooded with random posts and mistagged spam. This has already driven some of the bigger names away so we get less quality content from the people that actually understand devrant.
I wouldn't worry about us, it's just that the demographic is slowly changing.

Hazarth94841y@Nanos Yes but isn't it also true that the bullying comes from the new comers in the first place? They see how we banter, and they take it to the extreme because they think that makes them part of the cool group. But they lack the camaraderie that we have with the users, so it's more of an attack rather than banter in those cases. Because obviously you can't come up to a random person and tell them even in jest that they are a "fucking retard" but you can come to your best friend and say that in jest without consequences.
So in those cases I think you either get the target person getting tired of it and leaving eventually, or they get aggressive back and bully the person that started it back, which would just reinforce the cycle of how this is "normal", which then makes us all sound like a toxic community, when we aren't, just too many free radicals joined eventually and made us slowly more and more acidic. I think that's a fun way to describe it
Someone was pointing out that we aren't ranting on this platform anymore, it's only shit posting and making fun of people.
I think it goes a little deeper than that. Maybe we have just given up? Maybe we have accepted that it's not getting any better than how it is already, it can only go downhill.
Just like in a relationship, you fight with your SO when you hope that there is room for improvement, but when you stop, you know the relationship's dead.
Maybe we have accepted the fact that, it is what it is. No use in ranting anymore.
