Hazarth95141yI mean you're not entirely wrong in my opinion, though I do think it's a spam. It's a post a day about the exactly same thing with mostly the same content. Might as well write a bot that posts the same stuff daily, and that very much classifies as a spam.
in which case, yes, we can ignore it, but there's also no mods on devrant, so it's completely in our hands to report spam and clean up the page. I don't dislike the dude, I just dislike his attitude towards devrant. Misunderstanding how the posts work doesn't excuse you from using the posts wrong and tagging them wrong. It's a lighter, more web version of "ignorance of the law is no excuse".
I mean if we just ignore every broken rule and etiquette then we have no rules or etiquette at all and it's a wild west. At the very least a discussion is in order
at least that's how I look at it. It's why people get told off when they use wrong tags or when they beg for ++. -
I do agree with you both about spam and about dR 'etiquette'
But if someone refuses to learn, what else would pointless arguments do? Isnn't it better to ignore rather than feed the beast? -
It has everything to do with integrity. You don't come to a platform where essentially devs want to offload their stress and berate them into working for your open source project.
I "suppose" you could recruit devs here but there has to be some monetary benefits, because you're ignoring real recruitment platforms.
On top of all that, you have to be N I C E. People already are pissed off here, you have to be careful before you decide to intensify that.
And the nail in the coffin is botting. I'll never understand what's the incentive to that. Establishing credibility?? wtf.
We do get trolls here but this one is a bit different than the usual.
@Hazarth what do you think? -
The first 4+ screenfuls of algo are all his posts because he keeps upvoting them. It's annoying.
-
Hazarth95141y@SidTheITGuy Yeah I see it the same way. It's a very out-of-place behavior demanding something mostly non-standard for us. But the boting really takes the cake... 3500++s in a couple of weeks is blatantly obvious and that's really what pushed me to engage in the first place. It's just ruining the fun for everyone, typical cheater mindset.
And by the way, using the phone app you can make a "Colaboration" Post, which I think would be the most correct way to look for *colaborators* on a project.
Though for some reason I can't find the same button on the Web version, so I guess I can excuse that part. Is it hidden somewhere or am I just blind? -
@lorentz Oh, I see, I wasn't aware because I sort by recent. That does sound annoying.
-
It's trying to get to you. Well, joke's on them - I don't use devRant as much recently, but doing casual plugs for our public Matrix room.
By the way, yes, guys, we have one: #drcc:matrix.org
Welcome! 🤗 -
@vintprox The "people like this" assertion breaks down when a bad actor creates tens of accounts to emulate a nonexistent following. This is true of every social website, even those without algorithms, it just requires more work because said bad actors have to respond to themselves.

1. He’s an infamous figure across the internet, practically banned from every forum for being an asshole
2. His usage of bots is ridiculous
3. The shit he says is pretty upsetting as it relates to pretty extreme homophobia/transphobia, killing women, and pedophilia.
4. It’s fun to poke him and make him mad
So nah, won’t stop. He literally goes back to 4chan and complaining like “bro devrant is such bitches” and bragging that he is ruining the platform for us. Fuck that guy lol. -
@Nanos Yes, drcc it is. IIRC you can easily find it through Element. There is also a link in my profile!

@chonky-quiche oh chonky boiii... u need to understand dem context, that bot account is asking for people to work on his project and at the same time harassing people.
I said "On top of all that, you have to be N I C E" which means I am adding things over my previous point, man you have low object persistence.
You have to be nice to people *when* u ask them to work for your project, regardless with or without pay.
I'm not asking you to work on my project am I? Therefore, I can say fuck off to anyone who deserves it. -
oh, Fuck off @Nanos
""""" Says the person who was last weeks hated troll of the week. :-) """""
as if my life is destroyed now. Go on write another freaking novel in this thread. -
@chonky-quiche the name of the platform literally contains the word "rant". People arent very "zen" here.
-
@Nanos tit for tat with forgiveness?
Hey man, whatever helps you sleep better at night. -
@Nanos His opinion is certainly very popular among a series of people with letter salad names who joined at roughly the same time and do barely anything besides supporting this guy. This ought to at least make botting more likely than the alternative.
-
I can easily come up with 100 narratives that make them the good guy, the question is whether any of them are more likely than the popular one.
-
@kiki There is a user who joined like a week ago and created 8+ accounts and uses them to mass upvote their own rants. He has 3500 ++'s in a week.
Then he asks devs here to work on his project for free, obviously, under the name of open source collaboration.
Oh yeah, then he's a racist, sexist, misogynist, homophobic, anti-trans and boomer, all in one. -
kiki352131y@SidTheITGuy but I thought scor was an old user, wtf? :D
jokes aside, who the fuck is this? I somehow missed that. were they banned? -
@kiki no they aren't yet. Whatever comments they write, it gets downvoted into oblivion and dR hides it from other users. They have rants with about 45++s on average, consistently.
Their tag is - chaosesqueteam.
Also, please dont pull scor into this lol :D she's literally my favourite here :) -
The bot upvoting is what makes a lot of people dislikes the person.
I think its cool to ask for collaboration on a project that might interest others, but hosting the code in sourceforge rather than a platform that is used for proper collaboration such as github is strange to some. There are obvious security concerns over this e.g downloading zip file with unknown executables inside. Even if sourceforge scans for security concerns, it is still weird and makes people not trust the person.
I have not seen insults from their part, but some users have already reported and down-voted those. -
As well as everything already said:
- People could ignore him, but won't. You're posting a rant about it separately right - so you see the issue here. It *will* get talked about, regardless of intent.
- New users see an apparently heavily upvoted user, which makes him look reputable and honest. That puts a huge downward slant and misleading impression on the community as a whole. -
@Nanos Luckily it's refreshingly simple to run mirrors or move codebases with Git, so there's little reason to worry about the future of any particular host. Issues and discussions on PRs can get lost, sure, but literally everything else, even the data of PRs can be transported to any other Git host.

gjudqf-91y@SoldierOfCode You're wrong. Read the hebrew glyphs themselves: it says na'ar. (× Ö·×¢Ö·×¨) Not na'arah (× Ö·×¢Ö²×¨Ö¸×”)
(Remember: the dots etc were added around 1000ad.)
And in ancient hebrew na'ar is a child.
Read below (image).
Additionally you can read here: ohr.edu/ask_db/ask_main.php/179/Q3/
>Nachmanides points out that a child may be called na'ar from the moment he is born.
The greek translated it correctly as padia (child); as did the roman puella (young girl).
Your modern re-interpretation is wrong; just as the reinterpetation of the psalms is wrong (where “sons are a blessing from YHWH: for they are like a quiver full of arrows: and will destroy your enemies at the gate” becomes to the white “Children are a blessing from the Lord: for they are like a quiver full of arrows: and will testify on your behalf at the court”_ -
gjudqf-91ySee the 3 glyph word. It is not na'arah. It is na'ar. It means child. Also do not ignore the greek which says padia (from which you get paedophile (padia+philos), and the latin says puella: young girl.
Now: white people will lie to you: white people do NOT want men marrying little girls. White people see the old testament through the lens of the new: which doesn't want men to exist at all (read the greek).
So no: your "revelation" is not new: you are simply reading the english "interlinear" instead of the hebrew glyphs themselves: which says na'ar. -

(Some messages may not appear from being downvoted, so look for the comments in this guy's profile)
@gjudqf Not sure why you didn't just continue in the original rant but oh well.
First: You are not saying what you think you're saying, because if you were correct it were to mean that this supports gay marriage(Which from your previous statements you seem to hate) because na'ar is the male form of na'ara. Same word, different gender, as such my point about age of the word stands.
Second: It is indeed na'ara, notice the kamatz in the ר. In biblical Hebrew words tend to sometimes loose their postfix-ה, which you can see all through OT(Whether it's just a case of old scrolls being damaged by time erasing a letter, or an old quirk/old rulr of the language, I don't know, but it seems to happen every so often).
.... (cont. next msg) -
... (cont.)
@gjudqf You can also know because it's na'ara *betulah*, which is female form. If it was na'ar it would be na'ar *batul*.
Even though 'batul' doesn't exist as a word in ancient Hebrew (if I recall correctly) since virginity is mostly a female specific concept in the Old Testament.
So yeah. Na'ara.
Also you seem to put more weight on Greek and Latin translations rather than on the much closer to original Hebrew.
(Yes, technically Ancient Hebrew/Arameic are the original but it was written in a different script) -
@gjudqf In addition, the link you posted supports my claim. The Rabbi explains that OLDER people may be reffered to as na'ar, either as a compliment to be "younger than their age" or the opposite, when an older person is naive despite being an adult already.
But regardless, you took the line out of context. You claim this law is about OT saying it's okay to marry little girls. Which is straight up wrong(regardless of age of na'ara). If you actually read this law instead of focusing on the word na'ara, and the surrounding laws, these are laws about what to do in case of "unlawful sex", i.e. rape, cheating, sex before marriage etc'.
This law is about sex before marriage, it says:
If a man has sex with a virgin, unmarried, unbetrothed, THEN he must pay her father and marry her to not put shame on her.
This is a law to protect women from promiscuous men.

So can someone explain to me what's all the drama around our recent burned out sourceforge-dude? Y'all know you can just, ignore his/her rants/comments right? Unless I'm missing something here, I don't see the big deal. Not the first quirkling we've seen here, not the last. And It's not like he's spamming posts either, seems like a post a day, perfectly ignorable if you don't want to read their walls of text.
Like yeah, the levels of aggression are a "bit" too much but still. Ignorable.
