Please post all your memes in this rant, so we can once and for all get over it and I can finally have a clean feed before the weekend.

My algo keeps showing up the silliest stuff. Please post all you can here and then stop it.

Ok to be fair, I won't force you to stop posting memes on devRant, but expect to get downvoted for spam.

Thank you.

P.S.: If I want to see memes I can go on every other site. I like devRant for being about ranting, not just posting.

    Its ok to post memes.. but rants about posting the "wrong" thing are starting to get old

    Should fork devRant and just make devMeme

    Is there any way to filter the feed? Maybe where you could exlude types of posts like memes.

    I agree with @spacem.

    This is getting old. Everyone gets a vote. Your opinion is worth the same as every other member of the community. “Rants” like these (I put rant in quotes because it’s really just a repost) make it seem like your opinion is somehow worth more than everyone else’s in regards to what good content is.

    Why should it be? Why is the voting system not adequate for determining what content the community wants to see and why should louder voices overrule the democratic process? I think that’s ridiculous and people have been complaining, like someone already mentioned, that a small group of loud users try to boss everyone else around and get more than their one vote. That has to stop.

    Also, we explicitly have a rant type “joke/meme”. They are allowed here. Period.

    With that said, you will soon be able to filter out all memes. You won’t have to scroll past them anymore. It’s why we implemented post types.

    @Ederbit we’re adding that soon. That’s what post types are for.

    @dfox Makes sense :)

    Looks like this, for those who are curious

    Just to add, marking memes you don’t like as “spam/offensive” leads directly to a downvote ban meaning your spam/offensive downvotes no longer impact rants. That’s not what that option is for.

    @dfox (entirely unrelated, but kinda important) why you no use black theme?

    @byte-me the image I posted above is a mock designed by Tim, not the real app yet, so I think he just generally designs everything on the default theme and then we modify it for each of the dark themes.

    As for me, the main reason I normally use the light theme is because during testing I constantly delete the app so I get put back to the default theme and I’m too lazy to change it each time :)
