WHY THE FUCK DO I HAVE TO MEET STUPID RELATIVES.

I HAVE NOT MET THEM FROM PAST 5 YEARS AND NOW MY PARENTS ARE FORCING ME TO MEET THEM SAYING THAT YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO MEET THEM FOR QUITE A LONG WHILE (BECAUSE I AM SHIFTING 5000 KM FOR JOB).

NO, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THEM AND WON'T TRAVEL FOR 6 HRS JUST FOR THEM TO SAY YOU ARE SHY. NO I AIN'T SHY YOU ARE AN IDIOT.

    I'm pretty sure you're over 18.
Since you aren't a child anymore, your parents can't force you to do anything. You don't have to visit them if you don't want to.

    I totally understand you.
Family meetings are in my experience quite shallow. They ask you what you are working and tell you how long they have not seen you and that you grew up or are tall now.
And then you eat the whole day, are tired all the time and cannot code because it would be rude to leave the meeting.

    Fuck family meetings. 😁

Have those every year during the last two weeks... Only I don't care much about how displease they are when I pull out my laptop in the middle of a meeting.

I usually spend the time conducting my own social experiments and generally just observing behavior..

Collecting their interests by listening to them talk or just ask them directly, turning the conversation to be basically a monolog with them talking about their life ( most love this and thinks you're nice as a result), I'm simply observing and trying to copy but not obviously their mimicry, speech patterns, how long they can hold eye contact, to create the illusion I'm interested in them.. :p
Like, if I notice them smile of a fond memory of something, return a smile with message: "that's nice! Tell me more.".. Or something like that :p

So when I find two that may step each other's toes, try to pair them up for my own entertainment to spectate :p
Well, that's conditional, if I think it might turn out bad I'll not.
But if it's just a clash of interests that might spark into exchanges of perspectives, then sure.

Also being that "odd ball" that refuses to drink alcohol, it's actually quite interesting to see some people's reactions to it..
Like "oh.. What?.. But.. *hic* Why not?".. :D

Besides the Intel I collected, I can use for ai, to assess how "human-like" they're becoming and eventually be able to tell a clear difference, if it becomes relevant..

@Michelle I know they can't force me legally. But if I tell them that I won't go then they will start their usual drama (mom will start crying and dad will say we spend money on you to see this day and so on apart from that, they assume that I have free time because I am on my computer)
I don't know how to handle them.

@PonySlaystation I would have to wait till January before moving out. I guess I would be happy afterwards.

"Go see your grandma, she is *°~family~°* and you are a terrible person if you don't."

    *goes see grandmother*

"Oooh, you got out of your hole to come see me?"

*decline to visit her for a month, repeat*

I have an uncle that lives in my city, every time my mom say: talk to your uncle, meet him....

Look, I like my uncle, he is a pretty cool guy.

But why do I allways have to be the person to keep the contact or to start the movement of "let's meet" ... This bullshit has been this way since I was in school... No fuckers, if you wanna meet me... Keep in touch.

@GodHatesMe yeah, exactly what happens here, so lately I've been hanging out with my new friends: golang, python, spring boot and threads :)

@azous Same here. 3 years ago, realise that I was the one always sending messages. Then I decided to stop. Not a single friend has sent anything since then... Except for my father, calling every single week to check up on me.

@lotd Oh, cool, another hobby-social analyst! I do the same thing when I'm forced into *social events I'd rather not attend, in order to make it less annoying to be there.

    *I like some social events
