how the hell did you manage this, studio and 2 or 3 emulators use around 2.5 gigs for me
-
@Artemix Android studio took 1.7GB, open JDK has two processes and each is taking 1.5GB
I'm starting to think it is a Jetbrains issue because even their Rider IDE takes that much of RAM. -
@BindView I honestly don't know I"m using Android Studio 3 latest update :/
I don't think for a second to use emulator or I'll need to even turn off windows to keep enough memory for all that :/ -
@Artemix I face similar issues on macOS haven't tried it on Linux though, if this is the case I'll just move it to my ubuntu vm and get done with that cuz it is really annoying :(
-
yeah, i noticed that jetbrains cant really optimize anything ram-wise, maybe try the canary release, it was lighter by a lot
-
@Artemix gonna try Linux as you said hoping it ends my misery. whats keeping me back is my slow internet and needing to download SDK all over again for Linux :\
-
@BindView I'm using the latest RC release, it is indeed better but still uses RAM as usual .-.
-
@NoMad I'm using VirtualBox with an Ubuntu virtual machine with 8GB of assigned RAM
-
@NoMad but I have an SSD and wasn't actually using the VM, had vs code and terminal open only lets assume it used 6GB for that (which I doubt)
Android Studio is using 6GB for a small project and that is just too much
And yes I wouldn't run a VM from a USB lol I once opened an Android project from a USB and it took 30 minutes to build XD -
@NoMad this is what I'm planning to do just need to find sometime to waste on waiting for SDK to finish download on my 2Mbits internet lol
-
cwizard5857yI do not understand this, on my laptop (running Ubuntu) android studio and a VM take up LESS then 6gb. How is is Windows managing its resources???
-
@cwizard well it is windows, I don't think we need to ask, shit in doing its basic tasks, wish I could just move to Linux but it is not possible for me at the moment :\
-
cwizard5857y@gitpush understandable, last company I worked for required us to use Windows. Thank god it was only a python job. Once you get python and pip going its alright.
-
cwizard5857y@gitpush Yes life is indeed easier, and better for that matter on linux! But company required me to use Windows so haha. Bios was password protected so even dual boot was not an option.
-
cwizard5857y@gitpush yea and you could ask them to install Ubuntu for example since most developers prefered using Linux. But I was only there for a month.
EDIT: I was an intern

Please Java and all java shit, take more memory I don't need it -_-
16GB doesn't seem to be enough to have a VM and Android Studio Open but it is more than enough to have
1. Visual Studio
2. SQL Server Management Studio
3. VM
4. FireFox
5. Visual Studio code
Fuck. This. Shit!
