I spent about an hour today working on getting an arduino board working before discovering that my IDE wasn't the latest version. In fact, it was outdated by several years.
Why are the apt caches so old? I keep my machine updated constantly but what's the point if it's locked at an old package forcing me to circumvent apt in the first place?

Debian tends to be pretty far behind on a lot of things, but that also contributes to its stability
