No, the sweet buys from Ryzen Desktop are 1200, 1400, 1600, 1700. You can overclock any Ryzen CPU as long as the chipset allows it.

The question is first and foremost if he should go Intel. I'm not sure if compilers are multi-threaded, but video games aren't - yet. My i5 2500k still has a better per core performance than the 1300x. That's the only real question for me.

The 1300x is probably a good bet for a number of reasons, including price and longevity. AMD's might run hotter, but that probably won't be an issue with CS: GO and compilers.

I could try to stretch my budget, but I wonder if i could utilize powers & strength of 5 and 3 just don't get me Slow.
Hence I am going with SSD.
I guess it's more than enough for linux, web development, webpack and Atom

@jalebiBhai manually setting your overclock in the BIOS would be much better than Turbo boost

@theuser actually I believe Ryzen runs cooler than Intel's CPUs.(And they should, AMD uses the same die from Ryzen 3 1200 to their top end Epyc)

@jalebiBhai You don't /need/ to overclock, but it is a very decent speed boost. Although if you don't plan on overclocking I'd recommend going with the 1300X because it has a higher clock speed.

@jalebiBhai no, but it's what I'd like to use for my build, as such I have done a lot of research on it

AMD gave my school a Ryzen processor for us to do a simulation of the Janas model. It was able to do 100 gflops (replaced 100 macs doing parallel computing) If you can afford one, i think its exceptional.
