CptFox16167y@1nfinite Well it's a bit different from a paper town. Paper town are more like watermarks, they prove the original source of data by placing data that only the original source can prove to be the creator of. In media, you usually insert noise that can be generated with a specific key that you save, so you can prove it's "your" noise when attacking someone for copying your IP.
Honey pots are there to catch the criminal with his hand in it. The most classical honey pot is having an unprivileged session called "admin" or "root" be pretty easy to attack, and reporting everything it tries to do. It's a good way to detect intrusion, and even the purpose of said intrusion.
It's clever, but not new, sorry for the party pooping, I hope the short course on watermarking and honey pots makes up for it 🙂
