Is it good to be a full stack dev ? Or be specialised in one field only ?🤔

Full stack leads to being Architect. Specialist become contractors. It depends on your career plans.

It also depends on the size of the project you are looking for.
But begining with a little bit of full stack is a good option, to get in touch with the whole stack. IMHO

Full stack is now an specialization too.

Specialize in your field and when you feel good about it, steer towards full stack.

For example I'm a web dev. So I try to know JS I side out. That includes some more advanced things like AST or V8 bailouts.
However, I also deal with node.js. Obviously, there's alot of overlap here but that's ok, even good in my eyes. Now I'm looking at docker and containers, load balancing, database scaling and so on.
Point is, my end goal is to be good at all the technologies I need to create a full application from scratch, and be good at it.
Obviously I won't learn every language, no one has time for that. But I will try to reach a sort of full stack dev ops level of knowledge. Kind of a one man frontend developer, backend developer and a system admin.

@Froot I agree, start out with a single specialization than branch out to understand the bigger picture. This knowledge will move on towards other languages and platforms.

You need to be so full stack, you even write the kernel and the transport protocol. And the browser. That's full stack.
