Friend: you sure?
Me: yep
Friend: then why you single?
Me: because i am a developer
Friend: what?
Me: nah im just joking, when i find the girl that can understand my code i know she's the one.
Friend: I hope theres someone that can understand that.

    I'm single because no one would pick a weed when they can have a rose.
    I don't really care, I love being single. More freedom and less work :)
    I fail to see the benefit of a relationship. There's nothing interesting about it.

    @Michelle also, more money for me!

    I'm single because I never go out
  • 14
    Holy fuck !! devRant has more singles than any matrimony/dating websites 😵

    I don’t like meeting people... not a single person 🤔...
  • 6
    Come on , so we are a single community after all ? lol
    I’m gonna break the loop , I’ll marry the next girl I meet after 10 years 😤

    @Michelle the only benefit of being is relationship is being the priority 0 for each other. For example, our batch is invited for the convocation in few weeks. And I was pumped up to meet all my friends. Guess what, everyone said that they will try to meet me if possible cause they wanna spend time with their partners.
    Most probably, I am celebrating convocation all alone.
    Apart from only that, I find single to be better too. I wake up, get ready, office(coding), come back and sleep(dream about my logs and debugging). No need to think about anything else.

    You don't need someone who can understand code, you just need someone who understands you! I'm a Dev, in a commited relationship for a year and a half, and planning on getting married.

    Don't overthink it, and don't worry about how you'll meet your partner. I met mine on fucking tinder lol.

    @Michelle only single people say this, and i know because its all i would cite when i was single

    getting stuck with someone ain't too bad ;p

    @your-x welcome to dateRant
  • 4
    @Michelle you will eventually want to tho. Nothing bad with it really, it is human nature to want to be close to someone at one point or another. And it has nothing to do with benefits. If you meet that one special dude or girl (whatever you are into) you will probably know by then! Don't be too cynical! I spent most of my teens dating, by my current age (26) it gave me a pretty clear idea of what I wanted and what I like and dislike. There are many reasons for testing the waters before it is too late and you get "stuck" with someone.

    I guess it really depends on each person. My mother and aunts (i was raised mostly by women) encouraged me to date as much as I could in order to figure out what I wanted as to not fuck up my relationships later on in life. Boi did I had fun in high school. I am very social (which is funny because I am somewhat of a misanthrope) and have the weird ability of being able to talk to a lot of different people. I do not buy the idea of devs or it people being ugly and antisocial. Most devs I have known are really attractive people, and I don't say this for everyone.

    @Michelle The benefits of a relationship is when you have children and you put them to work in your personal projects. But before you have to teach them to code. Muahah Just kidding!

    @Michelle if you are a weed, remember that roses are overrated and high maintenance... Have you ever had to add just the right amount of water to a weed? Nope. Weeds can thrive on their own, freaking anywhere.

    I'd rather be a weed than a rose. Weeds are badass.

    I'll weigh in here...

    I'm a recent newlywed; it I can find love, anyone can 😉
  • 3
    @Michelle my preference is the average looking "girl next door" with a smile and a good persona, who is genuinely interested in me.
    Roses are always high maintenance and they decease fast, and their thorns aren't the best thing either.
  • 2
    @Michelle you just wait until you meet that special someone, then you’ll see what all the fuss is about 🙂
  • 4
    Wow... All these people trying to convince me... Perhaps I'm the one who's wrong.
    It still doesn't change my view on it, but perhaps one day.
  • 4
    @Michelle be single all you want. It's your life. Just know that you're amazing.

    @QueenMorgana
    Thank you. You're much too sweet 💕💕

    There should be a devDate
  • 2
    *cough* *cough* Not single. And my SO is also a dev. 😁 She totally understood my code but man, do we argue whenever we code together. 😌

    So devRant is probably the website with most of its userbase singles.
    Business idea:
    1) Find and "hack" the user database of devRant
    2) Start a devDate app
    3) *insert something here*
    4) Profit??

    chicks love THICC engineers

    @Michelle the only benefit in a relationstip is that you dont get let out by natural selection.

    however, i feel the same: relationships are a big waste of resources.

    I actually met my girlfriend on devRant. ^~^

    We've been together for like.. four or five months now?

    @Cesar @Cesar

    Huh? XD

    And who is @your-x
  • 1
    To b fully honest, it’s an amazing feeling to b with someone... but the partners must be both, in sync with each other... in which case, no other feeling like it... 🤗
  • 2
    @Cesar @alice

    She messaged me about some of our shared interests, and we became friends. Then we started our relationship not long after.
  • 2
    @Electrux yep i had a partner once , she was the world to me until she became always mad and angry never listening to me. She remind me of a cat always angry and does not listen. Still love her until this day
  • 2
    @Cyanite that sounds nice

    @Cesar I have a similar story... until it didn’t work out... I believe it was due to my fault though... still miss her more than anything 🙂
  • 3
    @Cesar

    It's a long distance relationship, but we haven't skipped a single day of talking since we met. ^~^

    She's my whole world, and I can't wait to finally be with her in Germany~
  • 2
    @Electrux its very hard to let go of someone right? Learning new frameworks, language and sorting algs is much easier
  • 2
    @Cyanite hope everything ends well
  • 1
    @Cesar so true... and I’d choose her over pretty much anything...
    It’s like a void... which simply won’t fill...
  • 2
    @Cyanite haha i love seeing a happy romantic couple... good luck 😊😊
  • 1
    @Electrux yep i understand that too, thats why i keep working hard to forget, when i have spare time i cant stop thinking about her
  • 1
    @Cesar same... trying to keep myself as busy as I can... still the memories won’t leave my eyes...
    And frankly, my brain doesn’t wanna let go of all that even now... after all... those were my happiest days of life... ever... 😊
  • 1
    @Electrux time doesnt heal everything
  • 1
    @Cesar true... and sometimes brain doesn’t want itself to heal too... ( yep... weird 🤔 )
