github95487yIf I include work from home + downloads + YouTube streaming, 10GB will be over a day or 2.
-
@github hmmm... I am using about 200mib every day. Therefore, it is kind of ok, if I would upgrade to 10Gb for free (well... they get my mail, buttfuck that)
I will create a new mail and upgrade it. -
github95487y@gitpull create a 10 minutes email maybe. Or if the email thread continues, create an email named windscribeVerificationUtil@***.***
-
MullVad uses just a self-generated account number to identify someone. That's it... wow.
I suppose that I will try that out.
I mean ProtonVPN is outside of the EU and US jurisdiction and also no logs will be kept as they are saying it officially... it's hard to decide... -
@Bernarnold how safe is it? I mean all my traffic will be going through their servers, can they be trusted?
-
@gitpush you will never (100%) know, if they are not logging tho imo.
I.e. hidemyass shared a hacker's cred to the government. -
@gitpull no worries fellow git, I pushed a question and you pulled it away no bad feelings :P
*I'll see my self out* -
@gitpush thanks for not pushing yourself to somewhere else. Please just stay here :3
-
@gitpush I don't like seeing u pushed around. Wait. That actually sounds gay... nvm lmao wtf
-
@gitpush @gitpull you can't be sure unless you'd literally get root shell access to their servers. But in this case I trust them (mullvad) well enough to have an account.
The fact that they literally don't require any form of personal data AND that you can send them cash as payment is a very big plus for me. Their reviews are very good and they operate from outside a Five Eyes alliance country so good enough for me.
Only the max 3 devices puts me off but oh well... -
@linuxxx sorry for the last disturb of tonight, but what is your opinion about https://protonvpn.com/ ?
-
@gitpull Found it! This rant contains a comment: https://devrant.com/rants/960162/...
-
@linuxxx yeah, I found that, too.
Thanks for looking it up :)

Electrux
@linuxxx cool!
Lol whenever u recommend something, I’ve never heard of it πππ
Btw what do u think of proton mail?
Reply
linuxxx
@Electrux I think the service is awesome but it seems to me personally that they're going more and more commercial. Which isn't bad but quite some companies lose track of what they stand for when becoming more commercial.
"
But I was rather talking about the vpn service and not the mail service though.
I am assuming that you also mean the vpn service of them by that.
Therefore a burning "question" would be:
MullVad > ProtonVPN (because of the greedy 'give us your money')? -
@gitpull Definitely. Not even because of that but because MullVad doesn't require any personal information for signup and they've got a good reputation.
-
Dacexi119967y@linuxxx there's no real signup as I get it. You get a random number and use that as your login.
-
Dacexi119967y@linuxxx although I still haven't gotten it to auto launch as root without having to type my password π
-
Dacexi119967y@linuxxx lol. Mullvad wants to be run in sudo and I couldn't figure out how to setup ovpn since deepin's settings UI is absolute garbage.
-
@Dacexi This is literally why I switched away from deepin again. Beautiful system but the settings suck mother of god!
-
Dacexi119967y@linuxxx yeah, maybe you can install an external program for settings? Imma look inte tjata tomorrow.
-
Ok I’ll give mullvlad a try too... this should be fun βΊοΈπ @gitpull
And m not sure where protonmail is headed and how it will turn out, but it seems decent for now... same for tutanota... so m gonna use them both for a while and see which one suits me better βΊοΈβΊοΈ
Thanks a lot πππ @linuxxx
That's a 7.3 VERY NICES for you!
