when you run lighthouse on some tech "guru" with 50K subscriber's website and can laugh when they don't even have alts on images

hahahahahahahaha clowns

to be brutally honest, you need to know the basics before attempting to teach anyone anything, i don't care how boring it is

Me: We should get a proper texter for our contents.

    Management: SEO! ADS! BOTS! VIDEOS!

Me: So after investing 6 figures into all these things, we still suck.

    Management: NO. THAT CANNOT BE.

    Me: Texter?

    Management: Too expensive.

Plus that most Frontend devs lack an understanding of UI / UX / technical background. Which wouldn't be bad if we could pay specific experienced people for that... But too expensive.

Instead we should pay dubious guys doing dubious things with nonsensical recommendations.

    Like Lighthouse.

Lighthouse is pretty much crap. At least in the hands of someone who doesn't unterstand what Lighthouse does.

Same like the 100 % test mentality.

Crappy tests cost a fuckton of money, only good tests bear amortization.

Probably because "guru" here might mean some dimwit who proudly shows off how you can abuse JS so that a div with onclick handler can rewrite the URL, or empty anchor tags to perform in-page actions.

    But what is alt for
  • 7
@jestdotty That's so that when you press the alt key on your keyboard, every image transforms into a cat if the website is coded properly. That's called accessible because blind people love cat pictures.

To be fair to all front-end devs ever, front-end is really annoying and boring to do.

@AlgoRythm Frontend is probably less fun than black jack, coke, and hookers, but then again, you get paid for the former while you have to pay for the latter.

    @AlgoRythm

Be glad you don't need to do bureaucracy and red tape.

E.g. writing certain shops the fifteenth time that they need to provide a proper invoice and not send the DELIVERY NOTICE.

    Just... Stuff... Like that.

Or trying to wrangle data out of tools with no API and no copy and paste to get statistics for e.g. financial calculations.

I'm sometimes amazed that my numblock doesn't just self destroy after 8 hours of tipping off numbers cause yeah... Some apps suck. Like "all layers of hell combined" suck.

    Guys Guys,

Are we all ignoring the fact that this is coming from a clown who hyped up his own code once and then later got demolished by real devs, and resorted to - Well I guess there is always room for improvements?

Clown go learn how to code yourselves first, before you decide to point fingers at others and criticize them.

    Stupid fuck.

@SidTheITGuy Not up to date with the devRant lore unfortunately
  • 3
@AlgoRythm Clown posted some sources code of his, hyping it up, and it was mediocre. More cringe than a sign of being a bad dev to be honest.

Sid's mostly an asshole to everyone and wont let it go.

<img src="..." alt="arg i dont even have my own website to run lighthouse on, i'm just an urchin off of youtube and discord, so i'm going to bring up some old code for the 100th time that i didn't understand (and i still don't) to make myself feel better. me cave man!!! when me dont understand = me very scared and call it bad code!!!! arg!!!!!"/>

come back when you maintain and operate multiple sites clown

going to be hilarious when that "bad" code i wrote turns into a fully fledged and very popular open source tool a few years down the road for helping build custom embeddings -> don't expect you to understand this sentance either, have fun building shopify shops.

learn generics and just admit you got brain fucked when you saw that code and just defaulted to your stupid repetitive rage tropes since you had nothing original to say. god, i can imagine you were even probably like "ha! for sure syntax error with <T>!!! what is that! hOw dOeS tHiS eVeN rUN?!?!"

thats the last i'll say on this boring topic

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.

@fullstackcircus meta programming with generics is fun.
