@clamore @Root Thanks, friends ❤️
@kanyewest So close. -
Can you do the thing you can do in Slack where you can tell it to turn off notifications for replies and then also set a reminder?

How would you even silence a crossbow?

@SidTheITGuy I do not consume media on this day.
And I’m home sick from work.
Mostly just binge listening to true crime shows while winding yarn and preparing to crochet whilst longing for the day when I will once again be able to breathe through my … oh my god I can breathe through my nose! It hurts and it sucks, but I can do it! 🥹
@electrineer It does sometimes seem to be the case, doesn’t it? -
I’m also a fan of including Jira ticket numbers for todo tasks. If there’s not a ticket for a TODO item, it’s really just a TOFORGET
-
@kiki I only use single character names in lambdas if there’s only one thing going on. The second this turns into a multiline lambda, that fucker’s getting a real name. 😂
-
I don’t know, I feel like there can be a balance.
Use words and not characters for names.
Comment internals where the reasoning for a line of code might not be obvious.
Whenever someone tries to use single characters for generic names or variable names, I get twitchy. -
@Demolishun The worst part was she was a real daddy’s girl before it all went down. Shittiest thing.

In high school, one of my best friends got a message from a stranger on MySpace saying that he thinks he’s her father. Now, my friend lived with both her parents, so this didn’t make sense. So she jokingly brought it up to her mom. Who then told her that she *did* cheat on her dad around the time she was conceived … with that guy.
Blood tests later and fun fact, was in fact her father. The man who raised her ended up divorcing her mom and disowning her (but keeping relationship with her younger siblings who *were* his). -
I’m sorry for your loss, friend.

@retoor I just followed a very well written tutorial to do the lisp interpreter. All credit goes to https://buildyourownlisp.com
My regex interpreter on the other hand is a hell of my own making that I may never finish, especially now that all of my non-work time goes to non-computer hobbies. 😂 -
@fullstackcircus Or a hobby!
-
And then I gifted this guy today. (It’s supposed to be a Sasquatch 😅)
-
@PaperTrail Oh man. Best of luck to the child in her endeavor!

At least they didn’t say it was pre-seed?

@electrineer 😂 Preferably no mask. You don’t know pain until you’ve had pressurized vomit down your windpipe.
I am going to be so not amused if this is the origin story of how I develop pneumonia. -
I pull with rebase. 😂

“How to get Amy to not speak during the entirety of a meeting” 😂

@SteffTek Of course you did.
I wish you well in your recovery! -

Before I became a software engineer, I was a transcriptionist for a decade. I saw how the industry changed with the improvement of voice recognition software and how some companies stopped paying reasonable rates for transcription and started treating transcriptionists as glorified proofreaders (encouraging professionals to use voice recognition to generate a transcript and then just fix it). People started expecting to pay less to get more in a shorter amount of time. It was exhausting. And it wasn’t what we signed up for when we got into the industry and got really good at our jobs.
I’d imagine AI art feels the same way for graphic designers, that there’s a push for them to become glorified editors of content generated by AI instead of professionals who use their own skills to do the work they were trained to do. -
¡Feliz cumpleaños!
