@chch Literally came here for this. +1
-
@FintinaM Which carrier are you using? I also live in Romania nowadays, Swede here. :)
-
Working for a bank with React and ES6, guessing I'm an exception from the norm. ;)
-
A proper rant!
-
Plot twist, it's never invoked the first time... Memory safe. 😈
-
Get "The Great Suspender" if you're a tab-maniac like me, it has saved me a lot of system resources so far!
-
@Krokoklemme It seems to be because it is a variable that contains a function, just as the method in the object is highlighted for the same reason... I don't know which "color scheme" he's using on his chalk editor, but it looks nice. :)

Grattis på födelsedagen!

@rusty-hacker Interesting read, thank you. Seems we have some waiting time ahead of us, but I would be the first one to be happy for some actual Javascript competition...
-
@rusty-hacker I had no notion that direct DOM manipulation was arriving in WA. Do you have a link to that? As far as I have read about it... WA compiled code is called from within Javascript allowing for near-native performance on calculations but the result of those calculations and the WebApi manipulations that will need to happen as a a result will still happen with Javascript. Am I misinformed?
-
@rusty-hacker Well, then please enlighten me as to what you meant by it. Just debunking people's usual misconception. No offense meant.
-
@rusty-hacker Will not replace Javascript. Maybe you should read up on the spec. :)

Use Typescript. :)
-
@dexie Or even worse... The recruiters at the HR department...

@Ronald "this" in the context of a method-invocation tied to an object, will point to the object. So it will work. :) The time it wouldn't would be if you start passing that function around or saving it in some variable and invoking it.

Time to convert to stardate.

@heyheni I live in Eastern Europe and I'm offended... 😠 Hahaha, just kidding, actually moved here from Sweden. 😁
-
Goes doubly for JavaScript... Sadly mooost people assume it works like other languages, don't bother to learn how it actually works, and then proceed to end up here whining about its incomprehensibility. Haha 😊
-
@codeclod They are basically css-selectors, not intricate advanced ways of using JQuery... This is just frightening. 😞

During high school our systems-admin used everyone's social security number (something you can acquire for anyone, easily, online here in Sweden) as the sole parameter for getting the personal login, in clear-text, to a nationwide hotspot network.
On top of that... Everyone had to sign an agreement upon getting the login that they had to keep it safe and that they were responsible for any traffic on their account, even if they lost the credentials...
Some of us complained to everyone in charge, but hey... Who listens to high schoolers... What could they possibly know that the systems-admin doesn't. 😑 -
@slaat Just saying they hired me with this title, but everyone refuses to listen to anything I say... I would be happier being a Junior with awesome colleagues. 😉
