I upvoted after reading only the first line. Then I read the rest of the rant.

@py2js I think you meant to say
DON'T use Java!!! 😋😂😎 -
If you want something really bullet proof see here. https://www.privacytools.io/#pw
If you want something more convenient I suggest Dashlane or LastPass -
That coffee that took half an hour to prepare, should have been a hell of a great coffee! 😋😎

Maybe, BUT it isn't DevRant....

Good choice!

Cycling + Kick Boxing
-
@Kekica @Floydian That would be awesome! Or a company that "embraces" you take care of your body, by making go to work by bike, running etc. Or organizing group events. That would be SUPERB!
-
@Braed @dj-doMains LOL! 😂🤣
It was a good opportunity that I did not take advantage of. Shame on me! -
@justwellbrock Fedora is also a very nice alternative. I have used it extensively in the past ( I like SELinux) and I have read it has become a lot better and also comes with wayland instead of xorg, which is interesting on its own.

@No-one I really like Budgie, XFCE, openbox and I'd like to try i3wm. I found out about it recently and it seems really promising for productivity, especially if you are like me and spend a lot of time programming and in terminal.
I have not yet try Deepin, but I am going to. -
@No-one I have heard good things from coworkers using it. However I am not a big fun of Cinnamon, Gnome 3 or KDE. But I can see there is an openbox option, which makes it appealing.
-
@mzeffect Thanks for the info. I have already seen that there is a i3wm package group available and your recommendation to use Manjaro architect is very appreciated. It may make my life easier!
-
@SISheogorath Yes I agree with and know most of the stuff you are talking about, but when I am talking about stability, I mean it the "Manjaro" way, like what you said, having the option to back out from bleeding edge updates and install tested software. I am a Linux user for the past 6 years, so I know stuff breaks, but I also know how to fix a lot of that. I have no problem with that happening once in a while (like once every two months or less often). But I am not willing to spend more time that that fixing my os installation.

@irene Oh, I see. I don't know Russian, but I plan to learn in the near future, but for multilingual English-Greek it works good. That is why I thought it may be a good option.
-
@irene Fleksy supports Russian too as far as I can see.
-
Fleksy for the win!!!! I have been using it since it was a paid app (when it was just a small start-up from a fellow student) and I have never gone back. Every time I try to type in somebody else's phone, not using Fleksy, it is slow and painful... And if you have a large screen, even with big hands like mine, swiping can be annoying. All that provided that, as you mentioned, you already use it. Because as you know, it has a slightly bigger learning curve that most other keyboards.

📌 Keep us posted. I would like to use i3 when I have the time.
-
@jalebiBhai Thankfully not! 😁🙄

Version of a shared library they depend on. -
@Skayo @johngreen For me neither on Android 8.1
-
@lxmcf Fair enough! 😎
-
@lxmcf I agree. BUT I don't agree with both apps on split screen mode using light themes... My eyes hurt!!! 😋
-
QKSMS: Open source, material design, with dark themes. I honestly am surprised nobody else mentioned it already.
If you are on android :

Or Signal. But even though its my IM of preference, I like keeping SMS and IM in separate apps. -
Interested.... Keep us posted!
-
- Do you remember that bug I was after for the past two days?
- Yes. What's up with that?
- Well, it was your fault because you fucked up. But I saved your ass and fixed it.
Walk away slowly... 😎 -
If you have the time and you already know how to write programs in Node.JS, you can try using Total.js. It's a standalone framework, with no external dependencies and is really fast.
As a matter of fact, I believe you can find a sample e-shop in their site as a starting point. -
@rephiscorth
I personally use Solus OS. It's an independent Linux distro that uses Budgie for desktop environment. It is fast, simple and very nice / elegant. So if you are already familiar with Linux and you know how to compile what you need, if it is not in the packages repository, I recommend Solus. -
Any distro will do. All have the same tools to choose from, so it all comes down to personal preference and experience.
If you are not familiar with or new to Linux, then any flavor of Ubuntu will be fine, or Linux Mint.
Also, I would recommend NVM to manage your node.js installation on your Linux machine. It will make your life a lot easier.
