My goals this year:
1. Getting certified for Spring core
2. Getting certified for Java OCP 8
3. Write my first blog about “something interesting”
4. Update my personal website
5. Getting a drivers license
So if someone has some ideas/tips that would be great.1 -
My biggest dev ambition?
Actually finishing software which could be used in production.
And no, Dont even try to call unfinished work the MVP version... -
So for a project we needed some last minute changes to make it work (friday eve).
So at 10pm after I got home from the bar i started coding. I got in a flow opened up another bottle of rum and went berserk on the last feature with refactors.
The monday when i entered the office i got a intervention about my drunken code habit.
Apparently its not a good thing to just bash on someones code in the comments....1 -
Having a complete front end and back end application where the frontend is designed to look as simple as possible.
A new potential customer wants to have our app and listens to a designer bragging that its just replacing 2 fields.
After a while our manager comes by and mentioned that everything needs to be done within a few weeks....
All devs lose their mind since in the backend we need to have like 8 external sources to connect and hundreds of business rules to implement.
How a single designer ruined the year for 7 devs....1 -
That part where some business people walk to your office expect you to listen them at once despite being really focussed.
And once you makeneye contact they drag you into a meeting room to discuss new stories which are not even close to be clear or ready.
End of the meeting your day has ended and you still didnt finish what you wanted that day. -
Those corperate slow laptops which has preinstalled software on it. Especially the antivirus which decides to take up all memory to take a scan on 08:00 when you start up.
Im really close to throwing this piece if shit through the window...6 -
That moment you need a messaging bus for a part of your application and there is always 1 cheeky dev who will shouts for building it oursevles instead of using of the shelve libraries.... STFU and GTFO
Why do some developers seems to be fine if you copy paste some simple code but are losing it when it comes to using new libraries/services which are designed for exactly your problem?1 -
That moment you’re sitting at a developers conference and some keynote about some lame business plan is given... We all know you came from nothing and became big because of the good work you did. Now, gtfo!
