@HelmetBro they must think we actually talk like that... How moronic.
-
We actually don't...

I've seen people massively slate Samsung. They did an immediate product recall, it was only 50 or so phones, and not even their fault it was manufacturing. They even changed firmware for all phones to cap battery charge so it won't happen to a limited number.
What did apple do again when their phones bent???
Samsung have done everything right. -
Works this way in research as well. Except the project is wizard of Oz. Where you cherry pick the results but the implementation is disgusting. Yet you sell results and wash your hands. I think this is general practice.

@drRoss fish is love. Fish is life.

I have genuinely done this before. We somehow managed to accidentally fallback to sqlite instead of MySQL for 8 months on our VOIP. Blub blub 😥. That was a pain to re-migrate...

@ChappIO It's an acquired taste, takes lots of setup, but I like the understanding of every element of the system. I use Ubuntu for work however.
-
@ChappIO My primary dislike for Ubuntu is it's far too packaged. It's bundled with lots of things and changes default configuration of things. I'm an arch user, have been for years. Things just work. Ubuntu you have to account for lots of unusual stuff, and you lose all of the functionality the minute you step outside their ecosystem. Pacman is a damn nice package manager too, and the AUR is fantastic. I might be biased.
-
Nope the PM should be, as they hold responsibility for the project. However, QA is a vital part of development. To ignore their advise would be foolish.
-
Oh how I wish I could jump ship onto that instead of the stuff I'm doing now. Good luck with the project. Make sure to use ES6 because it's beautiful and I'm totally not in love with it.
-
So many jokes to be had about people waiting around for an eventual drink too. I might use jokes to teach my students NoSQL concepts. Thanks for the idea!
-
@ChappIO Ubuntu typically doesn't play nice with i3. But welcome to the Linux i3 master race. In time you'll learn to ditch Ubuntu. Glad you made the leap! Be free Brother!!

Not sure what level of education, but this happens at all levels. Even postgraduate level you will see shit that makes your eyes bleed.
-
Yet I get home and my supervisor immediately invalidates all my experiments I left running overnight. Still magically expects me to rerun them for results by morning. They take 8 hours of processing... I envy you and your wonderful boss bromance.

@drdre since around 2008. But I'm from the old original player base. All of us ended up programming and writing addons. A lot of those hours are development work.
-
Aww 102 hours, how cute ^^
-
I'm glad I enlightened your day ;)
-
@SecondThread Are you some light mode heathen?
-
Used it when in beta ( I think ) very nice. Not used it in a professional setting but more hobby. I preferred it over alternate solutions for SCRUM. Fresh and responsive.

@edisonn University with limited departmental resources. It's the standard kit. I'm expected to hit deadlines, it's part of the research funding to do so. No budget for equipment and I'd rather be able to live. I do end up doing things whilst training though, so it's not a total loss.

This system itself is a PoC! it's an industrial partnered research thing.
