You can get the whole JetBrains suite free if you have an open source project. You're welcome.
-
I've yet to hear a valid argument for bashing JavaScript
-
@Floydian You must be that single developer then.
-
Except nobody uses abstract equality...
-
You're aware that C# is light years beyond PHP right?
If your point was not to judge a language without trying it first, sure. But if you know both, you would never dare to touch PHP ever again tbh... -
@Floydian pretty much everything is wrong with this company?
They acquired Java and MySQL, then started suing others using them. They have the most shittiest apps and they are astronomically costly. Their workforce consists of 1 developer and the rest are lawyers.
Basically the worst behaviors you can find in a company, Oracle has them all. -
I prefer to use floppy disks than use Bitbucket.
VSTS offers FREE unlimited private repos for up to 5 users so what makes you think Microsoft would end GitHub free public repos? Your argument makes no sense at all. -
It's PHP guys, it's not supposed to make sense.
-
PHP is a total mess on all fronts: https://eev.ee/blog/2012/...
You're free to use it but saying there's nothing wrong with it is being ignorant. -
@StopMotionCuber Maybe you should read about it before saying they don't and that it's not efficient: https://m.cacm.acm.org/magazines/...
-
Tell that to Google, they put everything into a single git repo.
-
Did you uglify it? Is it before or after gzip?
-
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
And yet done people keep praising PHP when it still can't even handle Unicode properly...
-
It's still totally valid grounds to get fired, no matter how you try to justify it.
-
It's the quality that counts, not the quantity... Otherwise it's just spam or poor code.
-
@azous maybe not but they don't receive patches for critical vulnerabilities, which is a major concern IMO.
-
@emyu10 Windows Phone is officially no longer being developed.
However, you can still code UWP apps that will run just fine on phones, should they ever decide to make a Surface phone. -
Welcome to 2010? Nothing revolutionary here... They've been using open source and competitors for almost a decade now.
MS Azure offers Linux machines, MySQL databases and supports pretty much any language.
VSTS has had git support for many years now... MS switched the whole Windows code base to git last year.
They develop launchers and other apps for Android.
.NET core was ported to Linux and Mac, is now open source. SQL server is now available on Linux.
Windows 10 has a native Linux subsystem and a bash command line.
And the list goes on... -
@Cyanite Visual Studio != Visual Studio Code. They are 2 completely different IDEs.
-
@matt961 You must have used it wrong then. Compared to PHP, it's a piece of art.
-
@Froot You're mixing up communism and socialism.
Socialism simply means that basic human rights should be free, no matter your income. Education, Healthcare, Security, etc. should be accessible to anyone.
HOWEVER, unlike communism, you are free to get richer than X because you're more productive.
Your whole "I'll help a sick friend" argument is deeply flawed. What if you and your friends are poor. What if your child is born with a life threatening defect that can be easily corrected but costs more than what you and your friends can afford?
Basic human rights should be free or decently cheap so it's accessible to everyone. That doesn't prevent you from being productive and get rich. Socialism and capitalism ideals are not mutually exclusive. -
@Froot What you just described is not socialism. Not even close...

So what exactly is the issue here? Chrome will block ads which are universally agreed as annoying. Mobile "optimized" websites are the worst offenders and it's about time Google started doing something about it, especially in Chrome for Android.
Is it a bit sketchy that Google is the largest member of the association that decides which types of ads are allowed? Sure. But it's still a step in the right direction. I'm tired of the shitty mobile experience we get with in your face full screen ads.
Don't want to use Chrome? Then don't use it. Stop being so delusional about it. The fact remains that most websites will stop pushing these annoying ads as a result, whether you use Chrome or not, which is a good thing.
Advertisers simply need to respect simple guidelines, which are completely fair IMO. -
It could be worse, it could be written in PHP... Oh wait, it is...
-
Looks like a standard issue of "senior dev"
-
Looks fine for PHP code...
-
Don't forget to schedule a pointless meeting that you're not going to attend.
