@devJs twats are everywhere. These titles are hard earned so I wouldn't generalize that all titles are twatty.
-
Yeah! Way to liven up the routine. Back to office y'all!
If this trend catches on we should see more entertaining stand-offs in WWE rings.
Keyboard warriors literally smashing keyboards on each other.
That reminds me a senior dev in a team I worked with was so frustrated at his lead after a meeting that he walked off, sat down and smashed his keyboard hard on the desk. He stayed on (the lead left; not due to this incident), but it was good watercooler gossip for years after that. -
@tosensei I have to agree. It's a shame that these things are like smartwatches. Toys that miss their potential.
-
@gitstashio I didn't know it was webapp only now.
Anyway webapp is the only option on linux. I find it limiting and hard to navigate.
I loved the desktop app when I was on Windows.
IPad, well, they are not e-ink displays, expensive, and I think the same ecosystem restrictions will apply like Remarkable. Although there might be some app on iOS which supports notes syncing and exporting in standard format that can work with linux. -
@joewilliams007 thanks. I could always play music on phone but the other dealbreakers match what I had in mind and what @C0D4 also indicated.
-
@spongessuck similar to what I get. I think I got last bottle for $7. It was close to 2 litres. I was comparing it with cafe coffees. Single cappucino goes for $4-5 and $6.5 at Starbucks.
On comparison with cola, yes it is more expensive. But I think it is still a better deal considering it is more caffeine and no hfcs or extra sugar. A whole bottle lasts me about 4-5 days. -
@spongessuck how much is it in your area?
-
@C0D4 I agree. So for now Remarkable is still on the table.
-
@C0D4 this is what confuses me. The Remarkable display is must-have but the ecosystem is on the other extreme. *sigh
-
@C0D4 nice! And the display looks awesome! So fucking close to paper! Even though it is so bright outside.
-
@joewilliams007 erm, could you share your dealbreakers please?
-
@C0D4 I see. I was hoping I could read and annotate too along with taking notes.
Although I don't have large pdfs.
Thanks for your reviews though. It helps.
I hope rmhacks has a sync feature. I'll check it out later. -
@C0D4 thanks!
The cloud lock was what I did not like about it. I want to be able to use syncthing so that I can take notes and later edit them on laptop.
Can you clarify what you mean by 'have to want to write'? Is it that it's awesome at writing and only that?
Seeing as I am looking to replace paper, I don't think that would be a problem. -
@jestdotty I got to know about it after logseq. I have tried logseq but never got around to trying obsidian.
I used to love OneNote desktop but don't use it anymore. -
@joewilliams007 I never considered Samsung in the mix, thanks.

@Demolishun rofl

Censorship is a code smell for a society. It is not the root problem.
In this case, there are still an advantage from it. Nothing stops a human from creating it. Cartoonists at least, can still maintain a creative edge. -
Yeah!
-
@jestdotty sending a cuppa your way.

@vane I haven't given it much thought to be honest. What you described sounds like extra steps to me that hide things from the user to simplify the process. It doesn't simplify the process for me.
I think if the process of sign up and sharing is simplified, the ecosystem will grow better.
Your focus seems to be on passive users which is a different problem than what I had in mind. -
@vane the irony of fediverse not having mainstream content creators despite having better ownership terms and content sharing than mainstream apps, also suggests that something needs to change.
Perhaps they may have better answers on what needs to change. -
@vane The intro verbiage needs to be more accessible. It should be easier to understand how the system works and how sharing works. Who can see shared content and who cannot.
Again this can't happen with limited users and devs who more or less work for free.
It would also help if the signup didn't have so many choices.
IIRC the usernames for login/sharing profiles aren't standard either. They had to be qualified with community(?) or maybe that is just with matrix. Not sure about the last point. -
@Demolishun shooting self in the foot then.
-
@TeachMeCode and that may even be intentional as it targets a specific user type. But who would that be on this app? Makes more sense for more mainstream apps.
-
@TeachMeCode they even use tags correctly. What a world.
-
Tired of the article thing too.
I too hoped fediverse would kick off when Twitter went to shit, when YouTube became ad infested, and now when reddit too is going the same route.
But it's not gonna happen. Signups and sharing has to be simpler. Ads, privacy, quality are not something people value over convenience. The frogs in these pots are used to this abuse. -
@TeachMeCode not just crypto but shady product plugs too. Like credit fixing services.😳
-
Falkon?
-
@piratefox It's okay. Happens to all of us. Take your time and don't worry too much about 'their' expectations.
-
Sorry to hear that. Take a breath and try it later when you are feeling better.
I'd advise not investing in one company. Instead try to have multiple interviews going. That will help to normalize the situation and take the edge off.
