My company also sells hardware that uses a less advanced computer board than a current gen arduino or raspberry pi.
Logic? They fit the electromagnetic compilance especifications so changing now to a more powerful unit would be certification breaking.
Sometimes there is a reason behind not using the latest and greatest gadget -
Can you technify her hobbies in any way?
Like she's into photography then a program that manages and catalogs the photos the way she wants or something. -
@JAY505 I've worked with enough women to come to my own conclusion, no feminism involved
-
@JAY505 because, in comparison to construction workers where being a man is a clear advantage, in software development there is no difference between genders so if women don't apply is because something else is wrong.
-
As @bwnbear said I believe it's perception. You think about a nurse the first image that comes to mind is a woman, a physician? Men and women. A kids teacher? A woman, otherwise in the US a man would be a pedo (I'm talking aboht perception, not reality) A dev? A balding, fat, white man with glasses and a face full of pimples who programs full time in his parent's basement.
Women and men are equally capable in STEM fields but society still steers women out of the fields and make them take more social related routes -
As a non-English native I'd appreciate if phrasal verbs followed some rules, logical or semantical consistency but they haven't and can be hard as hell to learn for English learners.

Grats!
I try hope that the new rent is less than 3 times the old one 😜 -
@hexc I was thinking of returning the integer part of the logarithm but I guess yours is a more understandable solution
-
The oposite of simple is not hard, it's complex so you should be searching for cmtp
-
@AndSoWeCode if your code is used as library and people use the fields directly you'll get a lot of complaints if you decide to refactor the slightest

Improving legislation should be the solution. Where I live cars can't go >50kmh if pedestrian crossings are to be expected (usually there is a speed limitation in place and the crossings are properly signalled)
That's the point of legislation: reduce risks and easing the taking of moral decisions in case of emergencies. -
Nice views

I hope you know where the door is

Ask stash/bitbucket to stop suggesting it
-
@julianmd what gives you the impression the rant it's about interviews? The weekly tag is about CS "education"

1. French (I'm starting to be capable to enjoy media in french)
2. Java, I'm a Java developer but I want to know more
3. Python, I think it's a good complement to Java -
My Skype installation uses 70MB so Skype Lite can handle the name.

Many people treat github as facebook for developers: a highlight reel or at least theorise as it should be.
Me? I have 7 yr experience in Java that I can't put in github because I coded for private companies. Am I screwed? Nope becase it's more valuable the experience with these companies than code I could have copied, pasted, conmited and pushed. -
@leksyib I have plenty of female friends, some of them programmers and they haven't changed a thing from me.
Only my gf, and that's after living 3 years with her -
As other people said go to a scheduled activity like a course, a language exchange a meetup. As long as you practice and you practice with a wide array of people you'll be fine. I know for my experirnce that the social jungle of a high school can be brutal, specially to someone with social anciety.

I guess they're ready and up to date with the new open bank regulations
-
So millions of kittens are killed just because people learn to code? 😏
-
The code loaded to the android device isn't the code you're debugging. Or at least it is what I'm interpreting from the error message.
Hope this helps -
Good for you! In my country you need a degree so the company can file your hire to the goverment so you can get some administrative benefits you couldn't without the degree.
They've even asked me to send a copy of the degree just for that -
@IllSlapU I wouldn't want to lick a blue waffle
-
Good to know! I always used "history | grep foobar" to search
-
@Ezard and gravity, otherwise it would be lost outside the solarsystem
-
Java dev here.
Eclipse, notepad++ and vim.
Sometimes I even use excel depending on the manipulation I have to do.
Don't shame my choices, I work for a bank and sw choices are pretty narrow -
I'd ask for an update first but yeah, two month is plenty of time to start searching

Actually... my parents bought most of clothes without me when I was a kid. Mom knew my size and if it was actually bigger I would keep it anyway for next year when I was older and bigger
