They could just not ask, figure it out after a few videos and let it be. -
Haven't had any code review yet after a year as a mainframe dev.
-
@NameError we have to double our infrastructure to handle the inevitable doubling of the customer base!

In the beginning it might feel like you need root a lot. You don't. Learn to love the sudo and best practices!

Nice that there are other mainframers here. Got the COBOL down pretty well, but there is so much to learn surrounding it in the systems. :D -
That HR persons name?
Steve Jobs. -
I was offered a two year contract with a good salary (even if not working), so that covers safety. LinkedIn has been a blast lately as well. But I'll stay with my employer for the time being.
Started looking at COBOL years ago since it reminded me of the C64 I had when the other kids had Playstations. -
Got to the doctors office one morning and everything was down as computers were auto updating to win10 before staff got there in the morning.
-

@electric-ghost I wish I was born before my parents.
-
@electric-ghost A lot of stuff running on mainframes (or iSeries) still. We just had serious issues finding teachers not showing MicroFocus though.

Same start as we had in uni. And it became much more bearable, very quickly.
You have people with their only real desktop experience being facebook in the introductory classes. It should get better in a week or two.
Oh and if you have labs with TA:s, expext a quick ramp-up of the tempo.
