I think I read somewhere that early Apple (or was it Microsoft) devs smoke weed and watch Battlestar Galactica.

When that day comes, humanity will probably be living on Proxima b with new debts, overlords and oligarchs.

If I had my way, the only UI is the CLI.
-
If I'm lucky, I'd probably be just a head in a jar saying "I know how to build a Linux kernel" and everyone will be rolling their eyes.

Wait, are we in the year 2000 again?

@sidthepajfuk this was the time right before the start of the Internet boom. We drank the cool aid thinking it wasn't that hard. We even mindlessly followed traditions set by other successful companies like Sun Microsystems (meeting at a local McDonalds). We were naive and stupid.
-
@jestdotty we didn't have something to show for. We didn't have a product or built anything yet. We were supposed to provide custom tailored software but we didn't have anything, not even mockup.
-
@sidthepajfuk we were young and stupid. But we did almost everything right. We registered the business, had a business tax number and permit, all the things required to run a business.
-
@jestdotty you could be missing out

Sadly, due to health reasons, I'm unable to consume this absolutely delectable, exquisite, and tasty morsel.
I envy you and I hate you. Enjoy! -
Did it and failed. We had a lot of talent but we were arrogant, thinking that it's all that mattered. We had a cool name though: Sistema

Had an interesting result with Gemini for VSCode. The test fails using it's own generated unit test of [12, 11, 10, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9]. It insists the answer is 9 when the answer is 12. Even after providing it's own solution (attached screenshot), the answer is 12. After several attempts, it still produces the same code that fails it's own test.

I was hoping it would be a packet sniffer

Also, I let my cat walk on the keyboard for that special regex line.

@retoor use to do that too. But after the operation, I use the scissor technique.
-
@kiki personally, it's clean and simple just like the early Linux of 20 odd years ago. I don't have to deal with systemd (debatable. maybe).

@MammaNeedHummus uhm... based from experience? Let me get the popcorn and tell us more.

I was looking into this last year as I was writing a simple shell backup script. I came across this AWS Labs project called Mountpoint for Amazon S3. Might come in handy:
