@Linux why?

Feel sorry for the cleaners!
-
@4screendev that's a good idea but I'm more of a developer than a designer 🙁
-
@Jumpshot44 thanks for the tips, do you know of any good books/freelance blogs I could take a look at?
I've had like 3 clients now that have all fallen through because they just don't go forward with anything and it's really starting to get me down.
For example, I had a guy who wanted a site for his pub - we agreed a price and what was to be done, then I just wouldn't hear off him for weeks and months on end and every so often he'd pop up. The last time was I put a contract together and did the front page of a site for him and he was sounding all enthusiastic said he'd sign and pay 50% as agreed, then nothing again. Haven't heard off him since.
How do you deal with customers who want to see something before payment? Moving on I'm trying to get an initial payment before any decent amount of work because I'm fed up of being messed around. -
@helloworld thanks hadn't heard of that one, I keep hearing about fresh books but the lack of contract inclusion put me off.
This site seems really good 🙂 -
You made a programmer, you're a developer now 😜

@m0vntain it's funny people mentioning VS Code because the other guy on my team uses it.
I think I tried it for like a day, but to be honest I have such a hatred for Visual Studio that I just don't want to use VSCode. Perhaps I didn't give it much of a chance, but from what I remember things like keyboard shortcuts etc aren't standard like they are in most other editors and also I don't think it's as extensible as ST? -
@dev0urer last blog post on the like text sire is from 2014, is it still being developed?
-
Yeah atom's appearance is what made me try it, and the user interface...but I just couldn't take the waiting anymore. I'd have to wait ages in comparison to something thats instant in sublime.
Like ctrl/cmd+p to find/switch to any file, atom would constantly be indexing but I would never see sublime "indexing" my files.
I miss a few things, like linters work and look much better in atom with a panel as opposed to in sublime it's just in the status bar and you have to click on a line to see the error for example, but I just can't handle how slow it is 🙁 -
@dev0urer 😅 thanks
-
Yeah I understand that, sorry probably didn't communicate what we're trying to do very well...
Documentation is probably a better word. For example we'd like to document custom directives etc. I saw an article earlier where someone was able to implement something that would update this sort of StyleGuide from their code directly, so the code and StyleGuide/documentation would always be aligned. But unfortunately I've lost it 😑
Sort of a mix of something like jsdoc with a StyleGuide generator/tool.
We're of course going to do a StyleGuide as you described, but we'd like to take it further as described above. -
Love that show. Someone's put the conjoined triangles of success up on a wall in my office 😂
-
@benleah beat me to it
-
Oh yes. It's a regularly used word in my vocabulary.
-
Ewwwwwwwww. Why would you want it to?
-
Well I'm off for a week in 2 days which helps. I just hope these next 2 days go smoother...
-
I've been in the pub, 'rustic' is one word for it but 'clean, colourful and modern' are not!
-
Ah yeah, forgot about that...in my defence I'm tired 🙄
-
@dfox
-
Works system is set up like this. It's fucking irritating.
-
I'm glad you guys understand 😂 I posted about the guy (didn't name him) in the community from where he came and most people were like "you should be flattered" completely missing the point 😡
-
Ive began sticking them places in work... One on my notebook that I take to meetings so people will see it there 😅 I'll put one on my laptop at some point too.
-
I finally got a three monitor setup guys 😀 (2 monitors & laptop). But only because I bought myself a new monitor for home and brought my old one into work hah. BYOD!
-
I'd love three! But that's not gonna happen 😭
-
Hah thanks I might give that a go!
-
I have my laptop screen as well but I'd rather have two monitors and my laptop shut!
-
Yeah it probably could have been handled better...but that's the value of hindsight
-
I have so many I'll have to spread them out over time to protect my sanity 😂
-
I'm the same, actually bought my first few stickers this week. Got them from red bubble but haven't arrived yet so can't comment on quality.
