Maybe think about why you are currently using social media and why you want to quit? If it's a useful tool for you to communicate with the outside world, there is nothing bad about using social media platforms. Instead of quitting entirely, you could just reduce the time you spend with certain activities on these platforms, tell your friends a better way to connect with you, or disable the notifications.

What makes you think that you cannot be "social" among other devs? Was there a social interaction with a dev recently that made you feel frustrated?

I also have a special relationship with "security" questions. I usually try adding another layer of security by making up a long answer on the spot and add some unusual characters to add even more entropy :D I'm still reluctant to use the pw manager, as it's an outsourced single point of failure that I could lose control over. So I am constantly trying to come up with a better system for generating and remembering these things in my head. Safest place on earth but unfortunately not super reliable :) Especially as associations may change over time.

I know it's a rant but maybe you could get more specific on what your problem is and we may be able to help you better :)
Are you looking for a language or framework that you can use to generate components without having to write HTML and CSS yourself? JS being "logical" enough for your taste?
There are a lot of things out there that can let you write more structured code, e.g. CSS preprocessors like sass or less. There are also frontend component libraries that can e.g. compile java code into JS - which may work better for some people😅
I personally like fiddling around with HTML and CSS because my brain can work in a different way. It's more like trying out things until you're visually satisfied (and you will naturally have more breaks because eyes)! :D -
If I understood correctly, you hate maintaining tests that don't make sense anymore. That is absolutely relatable - but please don't blame testing for it ;) I wonder why your team mates write the tests like this... With any VCS, people should be able to get back the old tests along with the old feature if they ever needed to. Why do they want to have a set of mutual exclusively failing and passing tests in their test suite?

Also, the theme of the retro PC reminds me of a night "routine" I had as a teen: I would wait until I heard the steps of my parents coming up the stairs and I'd be nervous whether the fan would turn off in time before they opened the door and I could pretend to sleep! 😂
I'm surprised how many feelings this simple photo can actually evoke. A true piece of art! 😎👌 -
Going on to interpreting this photo, I see a parent (the in-built fan) and their child (cute fan outside) fighting over what's the right way - sometimes the parents are not perfect but they may be a little bit more right than you! 😄
-
This is so cute and I can't stop looking at it 😂

Sounds to me like he got totally scared of messing up the code base again so he kept it more "simple" this time ;]

That may be one reason why the majority of devs seem to change the company like every two or three years.
