@D-4got10-01 the irony in the matter is I suggested a long time ago we create a standardised UI component library/design system to match with the company branding and it was ignored like an old turd. and my boss was all like "i'm a data person, i don't care about look and feel that much, things just need to work!"
I'm flabbergasted... -
@D-4got10-01 yeah this dude has been really weird with me for the past 5 months. I don't care anymore, I'm on my way out :D
But, I suspect he might have had some sort of attraction to me, because we bonded over video games last year and I guess I friend-zoned him so hard, his heart broke. -
@D-4got10-01 yeah... Yesterday in a meeting with the entire dev team and management (we're not a lot of people), I asked about the deployment plans and deadline for this project and this asshole responded in the most condescending, hostile manner someone has ever talked to me my 15-year career. I could see the hostility on his face.
I honestly do not know what I've done to piss on his battery so much. I've worked here for 7 years, he only just 3. I've never had any conflicts with anyone at this company. I even had a great pair programming/debugging session with two of the other devs after this meeting and we get along fine. Lots of laughs, jokes, supporting each other.
My previous team lead abruptly left after working with this fucker for about 6 months. and I am at that same point. Spot the source of the rot... -
I had a 3 hour commute. I quit.
I hope you can find something better. I know there are better opportunities for you. Some companies are just toxic by design. -
Hey you skipped PHP
-
@PurgeXenos I had to google what rakija is. Nice.
-
yeah I quit talking about potential savings and improvements at work because of this kind of shit. so now that makes me a bad developer. lol.
-
@D-4got10-01 Thanks! I decided from now on I'll do my best at job hopping every two or so years until I can get my own company and property portfolio in such a state where I don't have to work full time in this industry anymore.
-
@retoor oh don' get me wrong, I use AI because Angular is fucked beyond comprehension and I don't feel like wasting my precious cognitive energy on it. I just don't want to be interviewed my an AI zombie.
-
fuck these people, it sounds almost exactly like the way my job has been for the entirety of 2025.
I sincerely hope you land somewhere you are appreciated, I know how this feels. It's hell. -
You got it wrong, God doesn't play
-
1 hour a day. Just one. at night. Sometimes even 30mins will suffice.
-
@devux-bookmark i've literally been watching this happen at work for the past year. it's driving me insane and i can't talk about it without pushing the lead architect's bad buttons.
-
@jestdotty "unique" in a team setup is not a good thing, from professional experience.
one can go be unique with one's hobby projects. not at work. nobody gives a fuck anyway, it's gonna disappear in a sea of other tech debt. -
been there, done that. wouldn't recommend.
-
@jestdotty this is exactly the situation I find myself in at my current job, in a team where comms are so fucking dysfunctional it's not even a meme.
-
do you have the same team lead as I do?! Holy shit... this is supposed to be a critical skill for a lead, and yet it isn't in practice.
-
I'd honestly prefer to have a 1, 1.5 hour code review session with another dev on their team to see if we're a good fit.
-
@root i just stumbled upon this post. i feel your pain. literally dying inside because of burnout. i just quit a dumb coding test halfway through because of a raging headache and I get PTSD from it. I feel your pain. I hope you find something better.

Tchaikovsky
-
skill issue. maybe you can have a chat with him and explain the proper workflow?
-
@iiii I feel kinda salty
-
@Lensflare the people who built this shitshow before I was pulled into the team :D they're cowboys and they don't even realise it.
-
man i want a new guitar too, i haven't played for over 10 years. i miss it. what did you get?
-
@antigermanist it drove me to sneakily drinking whiskey coffee during work hours on Fridays and recently end up in the hospital with having to deal with it for months now.
The cowboys who coded this shit doesn't seem to know WTF TypeScript is too, almost every variable that's not a primitive data type is set to 'any'. 2000+ line components everywhere that do way too much.
I added a feature in one part of the code base and it made something seemingly totally unrelated break for no obvious reason at all.
I fucking hate Angular and I'll keep hating it into the afterlife. -
@antigermanist and useful to the environment too, worm food!
-
@retoor if you're a masochist, try Angular :D the amount of cognitive energy required to just get started and build something basic is staggering.
-
probably a corpse
-
Lol so nobody is made a required reviewer on his PRs. Just merges shit whenever.
-
@jestdotty i never had any of those things, so took some the other night and holy fuck, i couldn't sleep and it was awful. but, i had no pain :D
