Have a wonderful year filled with peace, prosperity and happiness. Happy Diwali!

Thanks for the suggestions @badpointer and @osmarks. I'll report back. I'm pretty sure I did run install with @latest, so going back a couple versions makes sense. Thanks again!
-
Especially when the bastards go out of their way to make the code confusing. Imagine some jackass deliberately obfuscating variable names. I'm glad I never had to work with the motherfucker that wrote this website-that-should-have-been-an-SSRS-report that I had to support for a time.
-
That's kind of what I've been sensing too. Might have to spin up a Linux development environment to make this easier (which may come with its own challenges, for me).
-
Understood. I've got the cli installed. This is just the 12th or so error that I've run into since 5a this morning, so it's just a bit frustrating.

@olback "done, simple as that"
Put the project aside for a couple days, open it back up and the damn thing still doesn't look right! "I know I set the height myself, so that can't be it, what the hell is going on..."
Some time later: sonofabitch I spelled "height" wrong, and that was the issue this whole time! -
I'm guessing a regular expression was involved.

Man, the power of this community. I started to write a regular snarky response to this post (commented below for posterity), but felt what can only be described as the spirit of the :/ come over me and change my ways.
I do feel that this post is a bit bombastic in its content, but if it helps empower you, ++, my friend, ++

I found pair programming most helpful as an intern with another intern, but can't even fathom trying to do it again 13 years later.

The documentation is great for vanilla installs of the system, but you bastardized the system so much that their out of the box documentation doesn't pertain to your lavender, anchovy, white pepper flavor of their system.

I'm sure this community would be willing to listen to whatever has made you think about giving up, but if you need someone else to talk to: 1-800-273-TALK (8255)

@sylar, I did, see screenshot above.

Start a community for people who suffer from hoarding, but work with @dfox to get his insight on how to ensure the community stays positive.

This is not what I was expecting.

NM, perhaps it is, but it's one that disappoints and makes you glad that you at least enjoyed the journey. http://devving.com

Now you're ready to conquer devRant, right? Isn't that how it usually goes? Write "Hello, world!" in a new language and then try to tackle a full blown program straight from there? Here's to you tackling all of devRant. Cheers!
-
Yeah, I get that, but the challenge as set out in the convo that I commented on also helped to expose devRant to a larger community, whereas getting a 300++ inspires the community to create quality content AND support those individuals. I see value in having incentives for both initiatives.

New member trying to resurrect an old idea. Bah, I thought I was supposed to link to the comment from the tweet! #fail

Anybody who reads xkcd religiously is missing half of the story right now, and any time xkcd comics are shared without the rollover text.

Mine was bad ... My boss brought everyone in a room to talk to them about agile programming, and I got picked to write a simple program to score a game of bowling. I thought I was the shiznit: coding it in only x lines of code, for my use of recursion, and for it only taking half the time he allotted. He brought us back into the room to run it and boom, stackoverflow, the bad kind.
This was a little lesson in, do only what you need, take it a step at a time and don't try to get fancy.
We finished the meeting by writing the program one line at a time and not trying to architect it at all. We did it faster than I did it, using less code, and it worked...
If "FML" would have been an acronym back then, I would have used it. -
@aayusharyan I've used Macs before too. Each can be equally as frustrating in my opinion.
-
This describes the need for continuous integration perfectly. Get the code off your machine and test it in a mirror of prod to surface those issues you aren't aware of.

@d4ng3r0u5 way to get all serious on us ;) nice prayer though.
