@leviwhalen I'd do worse if my company tried to fuck me over when I'm leaving, "what? The databases are gone? Why I have no idea what happened..."
-
Is there no way to use breakpoints on JavaScript code? At least the node js backend code, I use xdebug for php and it's super helpful
-
I say sudowoodo x) too much pokemon silver
-
What versioning system? FTP directly to the server, cut out the middleman
-
lol.js that's just brilliant.js
-
This is one of the many reasons why you don't use FTP
-
I almost did but the company decided to just terminate IT development in my country instead and move everything to Latin America instead x)
-
Never do git rebase, period
-
it's terrible naming, how many times does he need to repeat his own name?
-
Why? is it even necessary? Tell them angular 2 is a different framework even though it has the same name
-
She's a keeper
-
I'm developing in PHP, I'm interested in Postgres because of its schemas which allow me to better organize my large DBs, I also really like its support for NoSQL inserts which can come in handy for some of my data.
its major problems for me come about due to a lack of really good GUI tools like SequelPRO, and it's slower performance when compared to InnoDB -
No not really x)
-
@magusd you'd be surprised at the amount of times when what is requested does not match what you'll actually be doing
-
You get what you paid for, this applies to almost anything in life
-
Downloading devrant was the best thing that happened to you all year? Damn
-
Lol, you get used to it, it would be the same for me if I went back to Windows now, the layout would just feel insane compared to what I'm used to
-
@asgs there is no such thing, I know plenty of people who claimed to write "self-documenting" code, it's a myth, it doesn't exist, and immediately as your app grows in complexity no careful variable naming will tell the next dev what the fuck is the reason why they are there, if you ask me, you should name your variables carefully AND comment and annotate it.
-
Sometimes I can't understand code I wrote 2 weeks ago x,) that's why you always gotta comment heavily and put anyone reading the comments exactly where you were mentally when writing it in the first place
-
Your projects should always be closed for modification, they want it to do something on top of what it does now? Fine, extend the class, they want to change some API or other specifics? Sure new class, implement the same interface.
That's usually how I try to go about it because at my job we get asked to change stuff a lot and it just gets annoying as fuck -
It's not a matter of preference imo, you either benefit from one or the other, simple set of data? Array. Data structure? object
-
Looks angry when your code is not clean, great motivator for writing better code, better than those stupid ducks with that stupid grin on their face
-
@g-m-f well, the company is part of a big group, there's 4 companies that operate globally and make tons of money, and then our company got split into multiple smaller nation wide businesses each of them completely independent, different teams different bills, different markets, some make a lot of money, especially those in Latin America, we make very little money by comparison and have no prospects of growth.
This just depresses anyone who's ambitious, and due to making little money the company keeps downscaling, cutting benefits, going back on raise promises they made etc, people just get sick of it and leave -
I'd like my Christmas gifts well defined thank you
-
Take a damn shower already wtf, stop feeding stereotypes about developers
-
Oh not not at all, in my companys group the division that makes the most money has never heard of git, they still move projects around in thumb drives, no joke.
-
Rant about people who can't spell
-
Ho!Ho!Ho!Merry Christmas!
Why no whitespace? -
You can't force the world to fit you, that's apples own arrogance, they didn't have a great idea they were arrogant
