I started doing a little HTML coding for a training site I wanted to build for my employer. Every time I thought "there must be a way to do this..." There was! It was so rewarding to build something by myself that I kept going into CSS and JavaScript, then PHP, and now Python. A few months ago I could just about code a hyperlink and make some bold text, so I'm quite proud of how far I've come :)

Sweet merciful crab. Solved. Now I must never ever touch the code again because I barely understand what I did to fix it...

Yesterday I had about 50 messages come through my site's contact form, all with random (but real-looking) email addresses, but no message content. When I looked at the web stats for that day I had a big spike of about 50 visits (it's a small site) from an unknown location.

Does anyone know why someone would do this?

FINALLY getting somewhere with Xataface. First time trying to build a frontend for a database, feels like every time I make a little progress I find ten more things I don't know!

Step 1: create genius-level Excel spreadsheet
Step 2: wait 7-10 days
Step 3: realise you're an idiot for not documenting what all your genius code does so it will take just as long to unpick it as to start from scratch
Step 4: complain on devrant even though it's your own fault

Does anyone else notice a delay between updating the CSS for a page and it actually taking effect?

Didn't know about using php includes for headers and footers when I coded my first big site. Now having to go back through and add it in page by page so I can roll out updates more easily down the line. Bleeeuuggghhh
