Something that helped me beat addiction was thinking of myself as an ex addict. That really helps a lot with how you preface things in your mind. Wish you the best!
-
@ostream exactly! It’s ok to not love software dev all the time. For some of us its just a job
-
@Floydimus thanks! That was a convincing argument
-
@molaram and then you see teams pretty much being 10+ Indians and surprise surprise…not one is a woman.
-
@neeno pretty much. Boring, old and a lot of politics
-
@YADU idk yet, I guess more interviews with start ups
-
@Oktokolo actually I’ve been just learning stuff for personal projects since all my code was given to other teams. Thinking to get through a postgrad and make the change to mobile dev
-
Maybe they are added as a cry for help
-
@N00bPancakes that would at least mean that my manager wants me to do something
-
@AtuM mid QA. Team got dissolved and now I’m in corporate limbo. They don’t want to fire me due to a big severance and I don’t want to apply to anything since managers don’t want to get me a visa so…it’s been a lot of just nothing
-
@NoToJavaScript well I’m based in Costa Rica so the market here still looks for bachelors minimum. However for Data Science I’ve seen Master Degrees minimum
-
It seems that the market has decided to go crazy and now all developers need to be a living StackOverflow reference and masters of every single programming language/framework that has ever existed.
-
@Cyanide thanks! This helps a lot since I was thinking of ditching my idea to get a postgrad in mobile dev. I think it’s worth the shot.
-
Dead af. And full of personal projects where I only have the idea and nothing else. Lmao
-
Just send them one of the thousands of YouTube talks about it. That might keep them shushed for at least a day. Until their code fails again.
Or write a book with a shitty title like: "The Buddha that beat Imposter Syndrome in 3 lines of code" -
I always feel that you have to at least change the variable names. An unspoken rule of using code from someone else, at least for me.
-
This sounds like Salesforce buying Slack just for the posible integrations lol
-
@rutee07 big 4 of software, Amazon, Google, FB and Apple.
I honestly hate the "big 4" thing but its a good way to give an idea of which companies I might be talking about. -
Dont forget a good pair of joggers and sandals
-
@IntrusionCM yeah I know, I've been in a long year fight to get our team access that they give to all other dev teams but since our job titles say something else, we get these awful solutions.
-
@IntrusionCM its actually a bigger issue. Our team was not born as a QA/dev team, but we got converted into one. We are all bundled into groups(when it comes to git permissions) so anyone inside that group can create edit and even delete the files and we yet have no permission to create rules to avoid everyone pushing everything...its pretty fucked up and we get no help from the team that gives access since we are not "essential".
One of the big 4 btw -
@electrineer which we have in place but another thing is for them to actually do it or request code reviews
-
@Voxera they are both assigned projects right now and are writing and testing their own code
-
@craig939393 Problem is none of them like to read, it's been a struggle to even have them go through documentation
-
Agree! If anything, it gives you some pointers that you can take back with yourself and see what might have been the issue.
Instead if they DO get back to you, you always get some bullshit general email answer after they took like 3 weeks or more. -
@FrontEndLove Glad that it resonated with you! I'm sure that my parents and yours can agree on a lot of things. I feel like third world countries are united in a lot of ways in their culture.
-
@Jilano are you my IT guy? For real, next time I will most likely hear that from him
-
I gotta admit, I chuckled when I read this.
-
You should print it and sell it as moderno art. Call it: the decline of CS
-
@Elyz that and the people that put everything in just 1 line of code deserve stale coffe
