@stereohisteria That error was caused by accidentally booting in UEFI mode instead of BIOS emulation mode on my MacBook Pro. Apple's Boot Camp drivers don't support UEFI for my model. :/

I'm actually running a Windows To Go installation, which doesn't support upgrades, but there are ways to work around that.

I'm the IT guy at a high school. We have a BYOD policy, so I'm fine with connecting staff and student's personal devices to the network, configuring proxy, mapping network drives and printers, etc.
What I really hate is when people ask me if they can bring in their desktop PC from home to see what is wrong with it or when someone asks me if I can try to fix their son-in-law's iPhone that won't let them copy photos properly or something.

Holy shit, I had an idea like this over a year ago! My idea was an app that scans ISBN barcodes (or manually enter ISBN / other details). Then it would look up on Amazon, eBay, etc to see how much other people are selling it for.

Never got around to making it, but even if I did, I'm not sure I'd share it ;)

@inpothet It redirects me to the beta version now since Chrome disables Flash by default (at least in the dev release). The filtering proxy at work currently blocks the servers used by the beta version though :/

@Xevion My MacBook Pro doesn't have the power button on the keyboard, but I assume it functions the same:
• Short press does nothing
• Hold for a second to sleep
• Hold for a couple of seconds to show sleep/shutdown/restart dialog
• Hold for ~5 seconds to force power off

The only kind of meetup around here that I can think of is the one for teaching old people to use computers.

@lreading it definitely helps when someone is interested and that motivates me. A high school teacher and his wife (who also teaches) are both interested in technology and they are interested in some projects that I work on and ideas that I have. I dropped out of high school last year, just before starting year 12 because I couldn't cope with it. I am now doing work experience there 2 days a week to help fix computer problems and stuff, so I still see them. A couple of days ago, they gave me an iPhone 4 in return for all my computer help over the past few years, so now I have a real device to test apps on. 😃
The problem is that in all my spare time, I'm not really doing much and I don't have many friends who are interested enough in programming. I was thinking about starting up a group for young people interested in programming at my local library, but I'm not sure where to start with that.
