@retoor yeah, video streaming is still not a solved problem.
Yeah, I only use CDNs for video streaming or heavy file delivery. Helps speed things up a ton. Especially when it supports resumable uploads/downloads. -
@retoor
agreed. Nowadays, I exclusively host everything on DigitalOcean. It works so well.
AWS is for masochists.
What's your quarrel with CDNs?
I think in the right circumstances, they make sense. For example, with video delivery, on-the-fly image transformation... -
@Demolishun thing is, I don't think they know what they want at this point.
Also, even if they offered me a management position, I wouldn't accept.
It's just a soulsucking workplace and I'm over it. -
I know that feeling but failure is not an option. Break a leg.
-
@Lensflare when's the last time you used Android?
Yes, Android does show you an icon when a sensitive feature is being used. Be it camera, microphone, location... -
@sparrowEatsHawk I'm running it on macOS.
-
JavaScript is to Java what carpet is to car.
-
@electrineer belive me I've had my settings backed up to my Sony account, doesn't work.
-
@NeatNerdPrime definitely will try Bose next time I'm shopping for headphones.
-
@electrineer I seldom connect them to my phone. I mainly use them on my Macbook. Then sometimes when I sing along or talk, the feature is activated. The gesture works for some time, but the feature eventually gets activated again. It seems random.

Get an account on DigitalOcean,
spin up a decent Droplet and put everything there.
No need to use AWS managed service, they're expensive AF.
Would bankrupt a startup for sure. -
@hinst lol
-
no-code-platform AKA we will hit a roadblock and won't be able to move forward with projects because of the limitations of the platform.
I'm sure they'll realize how utterly stupid that move is. -
@netikras except it's not good for business, at least not in the long-term. Relying solely on third party software tools will eventually bite them in the a** down the road.
-
@molaram I wouldn't call any modern camera "shit". Sony cameras can definitely shoot cinema grade videos.
-
@AlmondSauce I bet they didn't give you a single reason. They just bashed Sony for no reason. Sometimes I think it's buyer's remorse.
-
@RememberMe exactly. It's still a camera and it will get the job done.
-
@yabbat what matters is you're happy with the pictures it takes.
-
Ikr, a lot of dev forums seemed to be full of people obsessed with working at FAANG and the whole time I was thinking, why not work at a decent company that pays well but doesn't stress you much? One should work to live not live to work. Life should be more than that.
-
@homo-lorens no idea. Compression is a completely foreign concept to them.
-
Are you me? I have two terms (4 months in total) left to go then I get my CS bachelor's but holy shit, at this point I don't even care about what grade I get as long as I pass the class. It's so draining. I feel like a zombie going through life right now.
-
@theabbie they must learn.
-
@AlmondSauce Their screaming gets you off, doesn't it?
-
@yehaaw aye chill. I was replying to another guy.
-
@N00bPancakes exactly. My combo is this windows defender + common sense + occasional full system scan by Malware bytes (otherwise it's disabled) never had any issues. Windows defender is more than enough.
-
Just be thankful it's not Javascript.
-
@junon tell that to my workmate who has sworn by it and thinks it's the best thing ever yet he struggled to get up a websocket application that would have taken less than an hour in Spring or literally any other competent framework.
-
@SortOfTested no idea. Although to be fair, we've just started the course and usually it gets harder as we dig deeper into the course.
-
@N00bPancakes yeah I get you. As developers, we have to keep our cool when presented with ludicrous ideas and demands.
-
@N00bPancakes yeah it makes no sense even as a wrong answer in this context but I wouldn't be surprised if someone chose it as an answer.
