But the website itself is terrible. Wrong reviews, fake reviews, prices that change as your progress to payment page, incorrect filtered results. I can imagine the back-end of that website is a dumpster fire. Only holding together because they throw hardware resources at it.
-
@electrineer hard drive upgrade was included
-
@kiki cropping also an issue
-
That depends on what framework?

Why stop at a normal blunt spoon?

@Demolishun nobody ever wins when forced to develop for crapple things
-
@atheist oh I mean it absolutely refuses to compile through xcode. But it works via Flutter's cli so I just upload it via transporter
-
found it!
-
@Demolishun my lower sixth computer science class was based on Turbo Pascal. If you're not programming with white text on a blinding blue background, you're not doing it right.
-
@kiki ...is the only correct answer.

I'm getting old. The only big games I've enjoyed in the last couple of years were Spiderman (1,1.5 and 2) and The Last of Us 2.
Ive gone back to playing games like Fall Guys -
@b2plane not wanting to prove you wrong but I've been given a bumper payrise since my last post.
-
@SidTheITGuy no, nobody does

I love hot nerds.

This is a VERRRYY broad subject. It's a bit like saying "I want to be an artist, help".
You need to figure out what type of development you want to be involved with.
Small client projects like business websites with nothing but a few general pages? Does the company need to edit the pages themselves?
Ecommerce? Does it need to be linked to a specific back-end office or CRM?
Back-end dev or front-end customer facing UI?
Single Page Apps? To do what?
Blockchain?
Mobile, desktop, Tv? Web or internal?
Server-side or serverless?
Security?
Where are you grabbing your data from? A database? What kind? An API? what kind?
Even after answering all of these everyone on this thread will offer you something different. So it'll come down to what you feel comfortable (and excited) to work with, what sort of team you want to work with and how much money you want make / time you want to spend -
update...was a bit annoyed I didn't get a pay rise this year given the work I finished in time and on budget last year. There was no one-on-one with the boss this year either (probably trying to avoid all the requests). Given the rise in costs now I am now after a 10-15% payrise.

@TheBeardedOne save for a few minutes here and there, yes. If I take a longer lunch I just stay a little longer after 5.
I'm also allowed flexi-time. Provided I'm in generally 9 - 3, I can start/end earlier/later. Handy during summer when I want to get out on my bike, I just start early and finish early. -
8:30 - 12:00
12:30 - 17:00
(fridays only until 15:00)
No home office but I like my office and I only live a 5 min bike away so its all good -
@aviophille there are taxes in the UE ;)?
Also it is still hypocritical of them though. -
@aviophille you'e got it a bit mixed up there:
smoking a cigarette - this is the action and choice of an individual = victimless crime
Scrolling through a website - this is the action and choice of an individual = victimless crime
The government has not banned smoking (eg enforced fully and completely a resolution to help prevent my addiction). and yet it wants to ban unlimited scrolling.
Again, what's the difference? One will coset them. The other won't. That is EXACTLY my point. It's hypocritical. -
@saucyatom they CAN deal with alcohol and tobacco by making it illegal. But then they would lose a tonne of money via tax. That was my point. They only really do something if it doesn't cost them.
-
@aviophille as far as I'm aware those things are illegal, so add nothing to what was being discussed.
-
@scor it's ok, soon this won't be allowed :) Back to pagination for you.
-
@aviophille eh?. Not at all. smoking and alcohol is way worse than being allowed to scroll through a website
-
Can we stop using the phrase "boomer" unless you actually mean someone born shortly after ww2.
-
@qwwerty if it just means me clicking a button to accept infinite scrolling then fine. Because I'm an adult and can make my own decisions on how I browse the internet. But if they're just going to stop it (somehow) then no.
-
side note - you can still buy as much alcohol and tabacco as you want. Those addictions are fine because it makes them money....
-
@electrineer its not just about scrolling though:

@Hazarth what gets me is they want to tackle addictive design.... but they won't tackle other addictive things like alcohol or smoking...because that brings them money. So it's a case of "let's only ban things that don't cost us money"
-
It get's a little more complicated. They're trying to crack down on the "addictive" behaviour of the way an app or website is designed! This sounds like a future nightmare for developers.
