Try Kahoot. I don't remember why, but it was fun to play with friends around.
-
Admit it already. We know you're after Edge's offline Easter egg game, there's no shame in that.
-
I kinda gave up and asked my dad to do it 10 mins ago, and he somehow managed. It did not involve a torch or chainsaw, unfortunately.
It turns out that the tunnel-like internal thread that holds the screw, had toured the internals of the laptop (wasn't a phone @magicMirror 😂 but thanks anyway). Doesn't explain why it took us a hard time to get the loose-threaded screw. But screw that. I'm just glad it came off.
Thank yall for your inputs! I gladly appreciate it! -
HA! AT LAST, AFTER ??? HOURS IT CAME OFF!!!
-
@SortOfTested already tried that. Still won't come off. Anymore tension and the case would break.
-
@Bubbles yep. In fact I'm one of those people. I'm 4 years old in this community, and yet I have less than 100 posts and comments combined. I also take long breaks, even now (just checking things here a little bit). Man does it feel nostalgic to realize that former active members aren't around anymore.
-
Never underestimate the amount of people lurking in the shadows. Not posting, not commenting, but all-seeing.
-
@jaine @12bitfloat Oh right. No wonder I couldn't remember any in C, because it simply terminates the process with a subtle error message for the most part.
-
Can compiled languages get runtime errors? I don't recall encountering one for some reason, at least in C.
-
@SortOfTested Ah yes, what I meant by implementing my own auth server is by using an OIDC-certified provider library, not actually programming everything up from ground up.
@juanchdzl Auth0 looks similar to service provided by Okta. I'll look into it as well, thanks! -
@SortOfTested Thanks! I'll definitely look into Okta. But why do you think it's not a valuable experience to implement my own? Is it because it isn't in-demand in the industry?
-
On DuckDuckGo, it's the framework. On Google, it's the particle. Weird, since I've been using Google for software-related searches 99% of the time. At one point I even had searched the Electron framework on Google Search. 🤔
-
@Lor-inc Now that I think of it, XOR indeed does the job lol. Don't know how it went over my head. Even I'm surprised with how dumb I can get sometimes 🤣. Thanks for the correction!
-
@Lor-inc Yes, I know. I just like to bring up a point that it won't work on certain numerical inputs which wouldn't be the case for, say, objects.
-
@Demolishun Optimization problem. Knowing how to improve efficiency at the cost of maintainability doesn't hurt, as long as we know when to.
Although on certain compilers, they're smart enough to handle this exact optimization for us, so we can get away with declaring a temporary variable without worrying about memory overheads, just with the right compilation flags. -
@bladedemon @aviophile
Assuming OP's talking about numerical variable values, your solutions assume that inputs are within the domain of whole numbers. They'll fail if one of the two numbers is negative.
I'd suggest clarifying the problem to whoever posed the challenge. -
Meanwhile there's me, who uncreatively copied my username from my auto-generated Xbox profile name I don't even use.
-
@kescherRant Precisely. Just that the essence of the brilliant title would be less obvious by referencing it that way. 😉

While we're all at it, I'd like to point out that everytime we want to check out new comments in this thread, we have to srcoll from the top all the way to the bottom. And it freaking sucks!
Edit: nvmd, just found out there's a scroll-to-bottom feature in the meatballs menu of this thread. -

I don't get it. How exactly are they a mistake?
-
The person on the other end of your first call is likely to be in someone from the management (e.g. HR)
-
@irene *n*~e~_v_`e`\(r\)!
You see, I'd like to go all the trouble for that little "wow how does he do that?!" impressed reaction ;) -
Ooh, I think that's a good concept... for a programmer's nightmare story. Just imagine: Compilers. That. Assumes.
Good luck debugging on that. -
The equally annoying thing is for popular chat sites that have half-ass support for markdown formatting.
In Messenger in particular, the markdown's rendered only on desktop but not on mobile. So now I have to consider whether my non tech-savy friends are on mobile or desktop before deciding whether to format my chats or not for them not to get weirded out by those markdown characters they might otherwise see. -
@codemonkeyalx I'm sorry, what?
-
@CaptainKirk I see. And thanks for the advise, especially that last one! I actually already felt that I need to separate as much as possible my personal life from work and am starting out by creating and using separate accounts for work so that work-related stuff stays only at the office.
-
@CaptainKirk Yeah, I don't think they allow pets in our office. But as someone who's yet to experience such, what makes it a bad thing?
-
@Codex404 But doesn't it feel different when speaking english versus in dutch? Because in our country, speaking purely in english can change the atmosphere into something of a formal or professional vibe. And you can't expect cultural immersion with that kinda atmosphere in the way.
-
@bols59 Thanks! And interesting sidestory. I guess learning a country's native language really is a must to fully interact with the locals without barriers and experience their culture more genuinely.
