@juicyapple THANK YOU. I get super triggered every time this image pops up. Like, yes I know it looks stupid, but swimming in a pool can get warm AF.
-
@Fast-Nop can i ask you to clarify what you mean by problem domain?
-
@powerfulparadox thanks for commenting. I do try to actively break down large problems into simpler steps, but sometimes I just can’t figure out how to get from A to C. Sometimes I’ll know logically how to get there, but I’ll lack the knowledge on syntax/ logic commands that will actually get me there. (If I’m not making any sense let me know.)
-
Meanwhile my professor gives us 3 incredibly complex program requirements, a week to do them and we’re free to work with a partner so long as we submit separate programs. Love it, it’s a lot more fun.
-
I was always taught to start with pseudocode or an outline of your logical thought process on paper. This becomes a practical form of reference when needed, and can help you think through problems a little differently. You can make a simple flowchart and add notes of what you find as you work through the program.

I’d argue that some people have really hard time being aware of their surroundings especially when thinking about something/trying to make a decision. It’s happened to me, where I’m doing math in my head to see what the best deal is, and someone is trying to get a product I’m standing in front of. I just didn’t notice them until they spoke up.
-
@netikras I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to notice this
-
@mksana at least you got something in return ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
-
The first mistake here was walking into an Apple store...
-
@dr-ant seriously though, dude gave solid advice
-
@netikras it’s pretty lax, we’re all uni students from different schools and we’re all just now getting to know each other, but I think that structure will work. I’ll be talking to the PM, thanks so much for the advice.

Currently an undergrad... but I’ve heard it’s really only worth it if your employers are willing to help pay tuition. It’s tough bc from the employee benefits I’ve seen you’re still expected to work full time. I’m also interested in hearing what others say though...
-
@netikras those are really good questions, how would you recommend they get worded? I really want to be able to understand where this teammate is coming from and I didn’t get much when I originally reached out.
-
@netikras yes I am blue teammate. Red teammate is the one who agreed to work on communicating more effectively. Black teammate backed out of an administrative role early on insisting it was too much work to take on and has now declared that she wants to take part in 3 different roles instead.
-
I should mention, my biggest concern is the team communicating efficiently. When I spoke to the Red teammate, she understood how someone may interpret her message rudely even when that wasn’t her intent and apologized and promised to work on it. However when I brought this same idea up to Black teammate she insisted that she has no control over the way people interpret her messages and therefore she is not responsible for how they may react to it.
