lorentz15268278despecially confounding as the Linux deaktop is built mostly on shell scripts and string concatenation so if you control any setting you can usually run code without needing to open a pop-up terminal.

lorentz15268278dI can't wait for the spectacular viruses we'll have as Linux gets popular. social engineering is way easier when all you have to do to perfectly replicate the actual authorization prompt is
stdin().setRaw(true);
print("[sudo] password for {username}: "); -
melezorus343614278d@lorentz yippie-ka-ye for me to having face recognition as login by default + privacy cover on the camera :)
-
jestdotty5309278d@melezorus34 literally was friends with a ML engineer who was working R&D for a pretty good bank which wanted to use facial recognition for authentication
they scrapped his whole project because they simply couldn't make it hack-proof -
melezorus343614278d@jestdotty lol i'm not saying my method is unhackable, you can defo introduce virtual cams into the login session.
What I meant was I would get baited less (assuming i'm sober, etc.) considering my setup is not cookie-cutter (basically more entropy in that area of my setup) -
Demolishun34913277d@jestdotty the dude that quit a while ago tried to log in at time clock machine using face recognition. It logged me in instead. I think this was of many things that made him want to quit.

electrineer30343277d@melezorus34 how does that work out? If you have the flap open and anything asks for authorization, does it get automatically approved when you're in front of the camera?

melezorus343614277d@electrineer select things. Keyrings and some other small stuff still have to have my pw

What'd just happen....?
I remember this happening quite often on Windows machines: occasionally some random popup window appears for a second or two, does whatever it does and disappears; usually it's either a cmd or a ps window.
Just a few moments ago a weird window popped up on my screen, its title bar was saying something about VisualStudio, and after ~2 seconds it disappeared.
The reasons I find this concerning:
- I don't have anything VS-related installed on my current environment
- I've been running Linux for years now
What the f did just happen...
