also, that's median, not average :)

@Drunkzee actually median is a type of average. Average doesn't mean arithmetic mean.
  • 1
    Not necessarily. Which average?
  • 1
@mostr4am while i agree in spirit, even wikipedia disagrees with this: "in mathematics and statistics, the arithmetic mean, arithmetic average, or just the mean or average..."

@Drunkzee colloqualisms existing doesn't erase the correctness of the original meaning.
  • 1
@mostr4am that's what i mean by agreeing in spirit :D

But in the end language is about expectations as much as it is about communication
  • 1
    @Drunkzee you think that?

I'd argue the social expectations are actually hindering communications
  • 1
@mostr4am isn't communication just born to facilitate the social part of these expectation? 😌

With uneven amounts of people - it can be the case that only 49.999…% are dumber than the mean

if we had 3 people scoring 10,20 and 30 in intelligence then only 1/3 of people would be dumber than the average score of 20 😏
  • 0
@jiraTicket yes but how do we know it changes every seconds or so
  • 3
@mostr4am so the statement is true half of the time 🤓

(Assuming the intelligence score is so granular that no one has the exact same score)

@jiraTicket I like the way you think

That’s obvious at best and plain wrong at worst.

    Let’s simplify:
People are stupid. Lots of people are incredibly stupid.

    For parallel analogy:
Stupidity is a spectrum, ranging from 100% stupid at the bottom to 0% stupid at the top. Nobody has made it to the top.

Where’s the middle, and what % of people are below it? Let’s oversimplify this time: Too many. People are stupid.

@Root hum I disagree. Nobody's 100% stupid . Some are pretty close I admit, but it's more like an asymptote. You can always go closer but you'll never reach ultimate stupidity. Some tried but they didn't make it back to tell it.
  • 1
@mostr4am Yeah, I agree; no one has reached either end. But some are certainly trying.
  • 3
@Root I pride myself in always trying my best.

Why do you gotta be so mean?!
