1024 points of soldering !!

Wasn't expecting that when I began, but it's quite interesting and the result will look amazing ^^
I'm making a LED matrix from 0, controlled by an Arduino, it will look really good when it's finished, I plan to use it to display notifications, clock, sound spectrum etc...
What do you think of it ? 😇

DIY projects are awesome! I wish I had the energy to make things like this.

The wires between the LEDs aren't perfectly straight ...! D:

Seriously though, I think it's a quite nice project. :) How big will your matrix be, like in rows and columns?

Edit: Ah. Could've read the tags.

    @nin0x03 I know the soldering isn't perfect but I only have a 10$ soldering iron 😖 so I do my best :D

Nice! Are you writing custom software for the display? Or have you found something already?

great work dude. I'm curious how it will look finally

@CoreyD97 I'm using the FastLED library to test it, but I plan to make my own library to drive the LEDs, and my own Interface to control it from my computer, both will be open source

    And welcome to devrant :D

@CodaKairos Awesome, I might have to take a shot at something similar myself! & thanks!

I see your hardware, I raise one ++.

I'm a simple man, I see an electronics project, I upvote!

@CodaKairos Only joking, been there myself. ;)

Those look like ws2812b, how are you wireing them up?
Your current visual method doesn't make sense to me jet.

But it seems to be a nice project.
By the way, a ts100 is basically the best solder-iron you can get nowadays.

@RageBone they are wired as a zigzag so the gap between the lines is always the same polarity, it is not perfect, but I tried many things and this is the best compromise.

Oh, I see. Thanks for elaborateing.

I was toying with getting into electronics and making a rotary fan display, but it’s finding the time, dropping the dough and actually getting the motivation.
