I lost my data twice cause I was using Windows and I think Linux also have every good tool except VS.
And you develop every thing on Linux with more freedom... -
@MKRNaqeebi if there's an 'except' there then I'll stick to Windows. I've never lost my data and i see no reason for switching to Linux. I use Android Studio, Visual Studio, XAMPP, PyCharm, which are all easy to install and use on Windows so i think its a great OS to use. Visual Studio is a big deal and used by many, its absence in Linux is for me, a deal breaker
And how do you mean, more freedom? -
I think linux is great but despite some Windows 10 issues, we can't dispute Windows does a great job. What does it lack to get it disqualified from developer usage? I say, nothing
& I still feel i don't understand the 'more control' aspect -
C0D4669027y@MKRNaqeebi more control?
Now I’m lost in what you could possibly mean by that.
Please feel free to enlighten me. -
@MKRNaqeebi and if you don't need more control then why bkther? Use whatever os works for you and leave other people alone :p
-
@the-dawn @C0D4 The more control aspect is actually very easy to understand: the system is open source, hence giving you the ability to control every aspect of it.
I personally wouldn't use Windows except for if my life or my income depended on it. It's an ethical thing for me.
And to the person who said that windows 10 is doing a great job, I respectfully disagree. As for features, fair enough, it has all the features needed for development and every day computing but that comes at the cost of loads of data gathering which isn't even close to a little okay with me. An OS should respect it's users privacy by default.
Use whatever system you want but if you're a windows/mac user, I just hope I won't be on the same network as I am anytime soon, nothing personal :)
(a few new people in this thread, they were going to be introduced to my 'radical thinking' at some point anyways :P) -
@jAsOn Depends. For the desktop market, true. For the server market, Linux rules this one by 80 percent so you'd shoot and miss badly.
-
C0D4669027y@linuxxx I understand the privacy implications of Win10, although a lot can be disabled, it’s probably not enough anyway.
As for the base os, I agree open source is best in this front but most arguments about the control / freedom tend to be empty which is what I was pushing for specifically.
Windows although closed source, you can usually get it to do anything you want anyway with a bit of elbow grease, a BSOD or two and a headache. -
C0D4669027y@linuxxx
That’s what I mean 😂
People keep saying they have more control, but fail to explain what they think they have control over more then any other OS, hence the empty statements, bit like @MKRNaqeebi comment up there ☝️
