I still don't know why people simp for him or why trump pardoned him

He was operating a massive drug marketplace and tried to have people assassinated

    He's not some misunderstood hero

    @12bitfloat

    > I still don't know why people simp for him or why trump pardoned him

    > He was operating a massive drug marketplace

    Duh
  • 2
@12bitfloat silkroad have a lot of sentimental value for me because I bought my first drugz there.

How else am I supposed to do acid
  • 1
@12bitfloat and I'm joking about it, but darknet market allows for independent testing by multiple people protected by cryptography. The guy saved a lot of life
  • 1
@antigermgerm Yeah but committed serious crimes and wanted to have people killed

With all due respect but I don't think your sentimental value should mean much in this case
  • 2
Of all the bullshit, why is this one in particular such a big deal? He's a dark web mafia boss. There are so, so many others. And if he resumes his activities, he can be thrown right back in prison.
  • 1
@12bitfloat his only crime is imagining that anybody using the darknet is able to kill anybody.

What the real contract killers are gonna hang out with a bunch of 4chan geeks exchanging child porn? lmao be serious
  • 1
@antigermgerm Just because he was too dumb to hire an actual hitman doesn't change anything

That's attempted murder first degree. And facilitating large-scale illegal drug and weapon sales and money laundering aren't victimless crimes either

For real, why is your moral compass so fucked up. I'm not particularly normal either but holy fuck, you just straight up defend criminals and murderers
  • 1
@antigermgerm nah, they gonna stuff your PC full with child porn and call the police.
  • 1
@12bitfloat everyone thinks they're not normal dear. Only I am normal while there are 300 pages of observations about me made by a mental hospital :) Haha You Crazy! :P
  • 1
    @retoor You're normal in my eyes :*
  • 1
@12bitfloat do you see where it goes wrong? I'm not kidding btw :P
  • 2
@12bitfloat libertarians view criminalizing of drugs as unconstitutional. it goes into your own body, not someone else's, therefore it shouldn't be illegal in the first place

also he was put away for attempted murder, not running a drug market. the murder attempt wasn't real, it was FBI entrapment

Ross is considered a bit of a saint in the Bitcoin community (who are anarchists / libertarians). due to his silkroad website Bitcoin gained a lot of traction, so he's responsible for everything Bitcoin has grown into now. and definitely the justice system tried to make an "example" of him and were not fair to him, which is why trump has issues with it and takes it personally because he's been experiencing this since the presidency fiasco (and he said as such in his pardon announcement on Twitter / truth social whatever it was)

... also Bitcoin wants to revolutionize finance systems, and USA has a finance problem. and BTC is the only way I've seen a viable out from USA's debt problem
  • 0
... the FBI entrapment doesn't really work

if I'm on the Internet and some troll comes up to me and says "if you don't give me 20k I'm gonna kill myself" I'll tell the person to do it then. that's how you call out trolls. it's part of internet culture

when you get to the more sus parts of the Internet everyone is a bluffing hacker. they say shit just to play and push boundaries

basically a guy slid in his DMs and claimed he could off people. is he for real or not? unknown. but any internet denizen is gonna say "yes" to see if what the guy is saying is a bluff or not

there was never any exchange of money for this hit, iirc (plus didn't silkroad have escrow?). it was just all talk. and drama for that matter. a lot of drama and show. the guy in the DMs kept hamming it up

also whether the guy in his DMs was FBI or not I don't remember either. he could've just disappeared, because this is the internet. I apologize but I still have brain damage so some things are foggy

@jestdotty thanks for the context, I've been wondering who this gesture is meant for.
  • 0
@jestdotty why would you want the USA to make it out of their debt problem?

Fuck them. They borrowed. They're the richest country in the world. They should pay in real money and not in some bullshit crypto they're emitting themself.

Fuck the united states of america.
  • 1
@jestdotty and iirc the dude deserve to be in jail simply by virtue of using his personal gmail address to talk about his business.,

Sorry but it should be forbidden to be that dumb
  • 0
@antigermgerm I mean, if they can find enough people stupid enough to buy crypto to cover the national deficit, the resulting insurgency would be spectacular to watch from across the pond.
  • 0
    @antigermgerm

That's what media tells you tho. If media falsely portrait your loved one as a bad person, would you believe them? How would you feel?

I genuinely believe Ross is a very nice guy.

NO ONE deserves a LIFE SENTENCE for making a WEBSITE.

I just looked at my crypto and I might be retired actually... I remember I was laughing to myself years ago cuz my projections said I'll be retired

I had one job and they paid me like garbage and were abusive so then I got PTSD and can't bring myself to have another. I thought it would be so fucking funny if I end up retired literally not working. I think this is gonna happen in like 3 months and I'll be making more off interest than I pay in expenses, ergo effectively retired...

the world is just a clown show
  • 1
@antigermgerm fiat is a poorer version of money than crypto is

it's fine tho, you can rage against the technocrats next, instead of the capitalists
  • 0
@antigermgerm it's pretty difficult not to fuck up and use a connected email address. those info sec snooping tools include email leaks from all sorts of random accounts on websites. if you input the wrong one and fix it later you linked them all. they scrap that shit and link it, forever. no privacy

sometimes you make accounts and didn't really think what you were gonna use them for, so didn't go thru the hassle of making a burner email. also did you know most email services won't let you make an email now unless you provide a phone number? phone numbers link to your name (though I hear Europe still has burner phones, but these are not things known about in North America). Facebook app would actually read your phone's number in the background, though it didn't store it anywhere publicly... but it probably did to the USA government. and let's not start on ad IDs which are being used by citizens to do policing cuz police is bust now, and google "logging back to server" pings

I was gonna watch this, which is the story behind silk road and the Ross guy: https://youtube.com/watch/...
    to refresh my memory

but got distracted by a normie idiot pestering me about how to buy the trump coin all day. guy can't comprehend how to do it lol. imagine when people who can't understand how to do it can have ways to do it...
  • 0
@jestdotty Which coin? time to pump the price.
  • 0
@jestdotty last year I turned $300 into $2000 using $PEPE but I kinda regret selling it, if I held it It would be so much more now.
  • 1
@kanyewest that seems like a lot of work

when I worked I could predict the future but nobody would listen

finance seems like I predict the future and instead of being blamed for things people ignored me about I actually get paid by it

predicting the future also means I don't have to do jack shit. I just know what to reject

    it's like...

what's a good idea? bad idea? you as a dev know using a dwindling piece of software is a bad idea and the company needs to switch away from it. if management switches you know that's a good company that will thrive. if management keeps rotting its ecosystem, its software, its devs, relationships with its customers, its security, you can predict they will go bankrupt

the same principles apply here, and instead of being harrowing that you can see these things and they can't, you benefit from being able to see these things accurately (some people don't see them accurately but think they do, so there's also that because then you'll be punished for your lack of humility). you get to vote with money and if you guessed right you get more money to vote with. if you lose you learn, if you win you win money. repeat. not a bad deal, to me, anyway

it's just a cosmic joke is all. I made some dude millions, over half the revenue of a corp that grew x4, and they paid me min wage 🤷
  • 0
... cuz when I warned them something was a bad idea, and they'd ignore me to redtape me from fixing it, I would make a bet how could I reduce the risk of that thing coming by on my own then? and I wouldn't tell anyone and would plug up the hole in another way where I didn't need Management's ok

then what they found out is I was "lucky". despite their mismanagement if I was involved every project was successful. then not only am I still not worth a raise, now I'm too important to even be allowed Christmas vacation, at which time even all their clients were in a blackout period. don't reward the golden goose, but do punish it because you're neurotic shits that can't say "thank you"

    @jestdotty

    > it's just a cosmic joke is all. I made some dude millions, over half the revenue of a corp that grew x4, and they paid me min wage 🤷

    That's crazy tho.

But what would happen if he lost millions?
  • 1
ok rewatched the Ross video and actually I misremembered it

at any rate justice system tried to make an example of him so Trump is like YEAH MY GUY

(also he didn't actually ever kill anyone)
  • 0
@jestdotty Did you hear Keanu Reeve's voice?

Yep, and media picked the shittiest picture of him and made him look like a mafia boss. The Matrix got him.

@jestdotty Regrettably, I am one of the victims of the California fire disaster, my wife and I were only able to move out with our phones, laptops and a car before the fire engulfed our house. We are currently sheltering at my brother’s place but we’ll be moving to a hotel tomorrow and from there we’ll figure out how to get a new apartment to rent. This has been made possible because I decided to contact (RECOVERYCOINGROUP AT GMAIL COM) to see if he can help recover the huge amount of money we lost to a bad cryptocurrency investment last year. We got talking and the same day he swung into action with the information I provided, to my surprise he has been able to recover OVER 70 percent of the stolen BITCOIN worth over $109,300 and I am confident the rest will be recovered soon. I couldn't hold back the excitement that came with this and so I decided to share with you all. I am overwhelmed.
