@Bitwise i told my boy that if he continues with that shit then he can start looking for someone else. I got no problem with leaving the project, specially right now since I have to freelance to make up for my wife currently not having a job. I would much rather work my ass off somewhere else than play this "we will give you 10% of the company" bullshit.
-
dr-ant13447yI totally get your frustration. I'm kind of in a similar situation. I have work and then a project with some of my team members that we're doing just for the sake of it. Lately the project manager is getting into his role and demanding updates from us. We don't get paid for it. It started like a group activity, voluntary and fun but now it's a project with a timeline and schedule and no money, just craziness and general stupidity.

plokko5807yHe should at least pay you a small amount to cover expenses and motivate without pretending anything:
you're doing the hard part and time means money so investing your time equals investing money so keep him in mind what it's your place in the business.
Side note: keep in mind work is work, you may like the project and be friend with everyone but remember to make everything clear in a written contract before venturing on a big project because when money is involved only very few remain truth to the agreements -
@dr-ant such a funny situation we are in. I mean, how can someone expect updates from free work? Make me think of Torvalds insulting people that try and help him with the kernel
-
@plokko that is what I am thinking too. Me and my boy do have a lawyer overseeing the process(our lawyer, not the other dudes) because i told him from the get go that i do not trust the other guy. One time he asked me what I was doing. And he was trying to call me, I politely mentioned that I was at my actual workplace and he said something along the lines of what we are doing is of timely priority. I mentioned that my priority is with my paycheck and he got upset about it. Getting ready to just bail out of his bs.
-
dr-ant13447y@AleCx04 Yeah. He gets really annoying real fast.
I think Torvalds's is a different case. Sure everyone wants to help but if he doesn't nitpick, he'll lose his vision and be left at the mercy of anyone who helps. He's every right to fire the rounds because it's his baby. In our case there are people who have no right to be in charge and they just assumed charge and are being a pain in the ass for no reason.

Currently balancing my full time job. A Rails bigass project and certain php contracts.
The rails one is unpaid, and I am doing it on my free time since my "payment" would be a portion of the company and a CTO position once it is done. I am building it with one of my best friends and he got the contract from this one dude he has who is loaded and will be selling this to the dptmnt of education of certain country.
The thing is, we all know how it works with those projects. The CEO had contracted this project to some people. He paid them handsomely and as is the case with certain situations the project was abandonded, the devs took the money and ran. So that is why he decided that instead of paying people like he should he would instead try and see if he could get someone interested. He told my friend to get himself an "American developer" since he was fed up with the devs of said country and that is how I am here now.
But the thing is, he is somewhat desperate to see something and even tho I show advancements on a weekly basis I hate the wordings of his group text messages:
"All right guys. I need to see some advancements, show me what you got now"
Motherfucker. You sit your ass and WAIT for me to want to show you something, but don't demand shit like if you are paying me. As far as I know my priorities lie in my current day job or the other people that ARE paying me.
>i need to see some advancements
Fuck off.
