@coolq that is the dream bro 😁
But thanks to the versatility and extensibility of Linux this might not be possible -
I never had problems with hardware support on Linux and every game I play, program I need has support for Linux :)
-
@jhfLinuxGuy awesome bro I guess you are one of the lucky ones but for a lot of folks out there Linux just lacks driver compatibility on a larger scale.
-
@jhfLinuxGuy I wish there was osu! for Linux :(
(I know there is opsu! but it does not connect to Bancho and so it can't upload scores) -
@sohilkaushal yeah, but quite often people say that there is no driver, but actually they are just to incompetent to find / install it
-
@sohilkaushal Bancho is the server that runs osu!
It runs authentication service, IRC, score system and so on... -
@jhfLinuxGuy I partly agree with you on that. But that is not the case for example my brother works as a full time system admin and even he had problems in configuring his personal workstation since the support for a specific AMD service was absent.
It's not always the case of incompetence sometimes a solution doesn't exist and further more all of us are not ERIC S. RAYMOND or STALLMAN who can write there own drivers -
But isn't the security of linux defined by the fact it's known lesser and most of the Software doesn't run on there?
I mean of course you won't break into a machine where no trojan is compiled for or no port is open because it basically runs nothing than a browser and your editor.^^
..not that i'm hating on linux, i love both and use both daily. Just my two cents.:D -
@daintycode no I think you are a bit confused even if you consider the overall scenario Linux is much more secure since Linux doesn't give everyone superuser/admin access it is much more locked down than windows in terms of admin rights. So even if a virus were to attack your PC then it is highly unlikely that it can cause significant damage to your system.
That is why Linux is much more secure than windows.
P.S. there's a reason why every server/supercomputer in world uses Linux 😉 -
Root797677yDebian with Mint's compatibility, and support for DirectX12+. Also, it'd be nVidia's favorite distro.
-
@Jakuho I tried playing in Wine but got like 90fps and horrible lags... and I've got pretty decent PC specs. (i7 4771, GTX 770 OC'ed, MSI Z97 SLI Krait Edition, Kingston SSD(now Radeon SSD))
