I feel uncomfortable, bit claustrophobic with dark themes, and no, I'm not sitting in sunglasses in front of the editor;-)
-
Sometimes we are having a presentation and light theme is good for people to see
-
potata14777y@huwthecreator Or maybe just because I'm sitting with a Mac that has a Glossy! screen and i'm getting direct sunlight to my screen or a huge reflection that acts like a mirror on black screen? :)
I'm using both dark/light theme as long as it gets the job done depending on where i'm sitting. -
It depends from person to person. Some like light theme so don't force them to use a dark theme. To each his own. By the way I'm using a dark theme but have nothing against people using light themes. If they are happy with light themes then so be it.

TV4ELP657yBecause sunglasses look cool while in the office?
I always code with light so it is t realy bright and at least for me works better with actually being able to distinguish some colors -
Lighting in room for non matte displays when other people need to see what's happening.
-
py2js27657yEach and every one of them who thinks dark is better than light, space trumps tabs, this language sucks, Linux are like superior than windows are shitty morons. Work on your facts before all this shit. Get the facts and hate whatever you want. Don't question the people who use light or dark or some other theme
-
@fuck2code my next laptop purchase will have a matte screen to solve this exact problem.
-
freakko6307yMostly because it's the default and I want to get shit done instead of mixing and matching themes.
Why mix and match? Because not everything I use supports a dark theme thereby melting my brain every time I switch to it from a dark theme.
Also, I like to code in bright spaces preferably with lots of windows.
I prefer to regulate the screen intensity by dimming it as it gives me much more control. That's useful when working in different environments i.e. home vs. coffee shop.
I also use f.lux. -
@fuck2code yeah I think the non touch ones don't have a reflective screen but they have a lower resolution.
Maybe in a couple of years they will add matte screens to all models. I got a qhd model with 16gb ram and cool specs. But I have to switch to a light theme when I'm showing things to people. -
Web Dev here. I have to switch between editor and browser and chat really often.
Most websites are light bg and slack doesn't have a dark theme.
Repeatedly switching between a dark bg and a light bg hurts the eyes so when I work on stuff where I need to switch often, I switch to a lighter theme.
