I know about images that get created by scanners in medical research where they need "Infiniti scaling" ... those devices produce ~50gb per image - but RAW-Data (~1GB after compression)

So, srsly ... What are you doing!!!???

Once I loaded a 900 MB tiff into GIMP. It was a satelite image of a coast. It was high resolution, high detail, because such things have to be.

@Rohr it was a pretty long time ago actually but if I remember correctly then I was massively upscaling some random image
